I have a 03 RX 1 with a speedo problem. I blew up the track axle bearing, and with it the speed sensor and the gear were also destroyed. These parts were all replaced new. My problem is, everything on the speedometer display works except the actual speed . There is the 0 displayed when the engine is started, but it doesn't change when the track is engaged. Has anybody on this forum had this happen after replacing these parts. The dealer told me that there was a signal from the speed sensor, so it is probably the display. Thanks in advance for any reply.

I would take a look at the wiring connection in the back of the gage. Maybe there is a pin bent that's not making the connection.
Thanks for the suggestion Grimm, but I am looking at the connector pins and they are perfectly straight. I'm starting to think that when the bearing let loose it wrecked the sensor tip and may have shorted something in the wiring. There are usually a few of these on ebay, so I may get one there. Yamaha wants close to $500. Ouch...

I would check the wiring from the speed sensor to the instrument cluster, before replacing the cluster
Bigfish, you win. I started checking the wiring and got to the first connector from the speed sensor. apparently the mechanic that installed the speed sensor pulled one of the three wires out of the harness connector. I just hard wired it to the proper wire on the speed sensor and Wa-La, it works like a charm.
