My brother in law just purchased a 08 Apex LTX GT 3 days ago and already he has troudle :o| We were fueling up @ the gas station ,when he tried to start his sled it wouldn't go..Right away I noticed fuel spilling out under the sled. #$%&* ...I jumped @ him to make him stop before it blew up...We pulled it to the side of the station and started to take the panels off...I noticed that one of the injectors on the chaincase side was wet with fuel..It seems that the fuel rail came off the injector...
i didn't try to reinstall because sled was new and didn't want to f@#$ anything up soooo we towed it home with his older sled (800 grand touring)Boy was he disappointed...sled has 48 km's on it and this happens.
What I'm asking is ...Did anyone else have this issue with their fuel injection????and what is the cure...Dealer doesn't open until Monday. He lost a perfect weekend riding his new Apex

Mike

;)!

My 08 GT has been flawless so far. I guess it's like anything new. Sometimes things happen. I feel bad for him losing the weekend riding all the same

fuel

my brother in law is still puzzled by this..he has asked around to other fuel injected owners and they are suprised to hear of the misfortune..maybe tomorrow the dealer can tell him what the problem is..

fuel

Good News :jump:
Brother in law has his sled fixed.!!!!The dealer found a screw that holds the fuel rail in place had backed off causing it to vibrate from the injector..He was very lucky that his sled didn't catch on fire because of this..He estimated that the sled leaked about 1.5-2 liters of fuel down inside belly of sled before I noticed it running out unto the ground...anyway everything is torked back to spec I asked him did the dealer install threadlock on the screws just in case.He wasn't sure but will ask
So guys just to be safe..make sure you check these little things each day before you go riding... ;)! .Don't want to hear of anyone blowing themselves up because of a simple screw issue

Ride Safe

Why would it catch on fire? Fuel needs a source of ignition in order to ignite and because the exhaust goes out the back, there is none. There would have to be some faulty electrical up front -- unlikely.... and even then, it would STILL be hard for it to light the gas since its in liquid form.

4000kms on my '08 APEX LTX and nothing to report except HAND WARMERS!!!

I love it...LET IT SNOW!

The fuel was dripping down on the starter and on it's connecetions
And unless those things are SPARKING (which they aren't), then it is IMPOSSIBLE to get ignition. Even IF they are sparking, it probably wouldn't ignite.

The point is that its NOT lucky that it didn't blow as luck had nothing to do with it. It would be EXTREMELY BAD luck if it DID because it really shouldn't.

Ever watch mythbusters? As inept as they are, on one show they had an open source of ignition in a box and were spraying gas all over the place and had a VERY hard time getting it to ignite.

Gas doesn't just blow. You need to have just the right conditions.
