If you haven't done your turbo install yet, be sure to check the brass fitting on MPI coolant fitting on the front of the motor, this is the brass fitting that is screwed into the coolant fitting you install when installing your turbo kit. Some of these were not tightened and will begin to leak after several miles. This fitting is the hose running from the oil cooler (round piece) to the brass fitting under the #3 cylinder on the aluminum water fitting.

First trip out I loged200 miles of riding, I have 2 different sleds with the 180 kits leaking coolant and 2 different cut hoses. 3 days and1500 miles later in my truck back to the shop to get them fixed THANK YOU ALEN,MPI has some serious issues with fit and finish on there kits.

I am confused, MPI does not install turbos right? So who did the install and ended up with cut hoses?
Ulmer did the install. Hoses cut from mpi location of the filter over the clutch guard, other hose was the coolant neck sensor rubbing frame sending false code putting sled in limp mode.

Stingray, does your above post have anything USEFUL to add to this post?
I (ALLEN ULMER) did the installs! The brass fitting on the supplied aluminum fitting, which the brass fittings are installed at MPI, were not tight! Also, the new coolant hoses that come with the MPI kit needed some additional attention to get what the end user wanted for his desired fit (we had to trim some hoses to get the coolant hoses to fit as desired), there were no "cut hoses" as far as a coolant leak, etc goes. We did find some rub spots on the turbo air inlet silicone hoses and modified that to work as the customer desired as well!
Please, keep this post on topic, I did not post to start any pissing matches, nor do I want to get into any pissing matches. The brass fitting was not tight from MPI, MPI knows about it, no big deal, just be sure to check it, is all I was looking to inform others! Thank you!

Thanks for heads up Allen I'll check mine again,I rode it 70 miles and didn't see any leaks yet and I'm gonna add a piece of thin rubber over the frame by the clutch guard,I see the intake hose rubbing on it a little

Thanks for pointing that out. We've made 1000's of these and if we missed a few I'm sorry. It's easy to check now before its installed.

Matt - not to hijack this thread, but can you speak at all to the availability of the yamaha trail turbo? Dealer is saying early February based on the yamaha parts system.

SRXRacer, I have a Stage 1 MPI kit (standard, intercooled kit) in stock available to ship. I should have a Yamaha/MPI Trail Viper kit in stock next week as well.

Thanks Allen , we put two on so far and never checked so we will do that before they leave the shop....
I checked mine. All was good.
During installation I doubled up hoses in a couple spots. Cheap insurance to avoid rub throughs and leaks.
