My '08 APEX seems worse than '05 RX1, it seems to be coming from the steering post bushings the ones right above the exhaust sheild are the worst...everything else seems nice and tight.

Pretty much all sleds when "new" have zero. My Apex ha zero as I remember everyone commenting on it. It just gets worse with age. The back and forth in the bars is worn bushings in the steering post. The twisting play is every one of the fifty hiem joints that the in the steering system. It's quite a linkage setup.
