After removing the ignition coils, this fall, I noticed a significant amount of rubber dust accumulating in the spark plug well. The coils are definitely easier to remove now than when they were new. So I said to myself....I said 'hmmmm'. I blew out the dust with compressed air before removing the plug. I checked the coils and they aren't nicked or anything.

I'm not really worried about it and I don't expect this to ever really be a problem but I just wondered if anyone else noticed this. These may be new to sleds, but obviously they must survive in the blazing heat experienced by R1 motorcycles. Many cars have this system as well.

Anybody have any experience with these? :?:

I mentioned it to my dealer. Warranty period is ending in a month. We'll see what comes of it.

I would think it is a good idea to put some silicone dielectric compound on the outside and inside of the spark plug boots. this should help keep moisture out and make it easier to remove coils.

That sounds like a good idea. The coils are actually alot easier to remove now then when they were new. That's what has me wondering. Thanks for the reply.
