stock apex vs Boss Performance clutched Yamacharger

The graphs are great; we read about and listen to guys all year and hear a ton of different stories about what their sleds will do. There are huge variances in these stories; granted there are so many variables between situations and sleds. The dynos provide an honest hardcore mapping of power although hookup and driving are still the variables.
Two weeks ago we had our 1/4 mile radar runs. There were about 70 sleds; everything from stock to done right up claiming 500 hp. I have an Apex Yamacharged and clutched. I was bout 12 mph faster in the 1/4 than the stock Apex's. This was fairly consistant over 4 runs. This is an honest difference, which may not sound like alot but every mile per hour is a pretty big deal when you are doing mods looking to increase hp. There was a tie for the fastest machines; an Apex totally done up by one of our big dealers here and the new 4 stroke Cat which turned identical top speeds of 128 mph. The snow conditions were slow but it was the same for everyone.
I too would like to see some more dyno comparisons of sleds. It gives you a fantastic base to make some decisions that ultimately end up in spending huge dollars and expecting results because of something you have heard or read
What speeds was every one running???

The speeds are hugely relative to the conditions which were warm, slushy in places and sticky. For example a studded track would have had no benfit over non studded etc. Of course other factors such as mods and driver skill come into play but it was apparant that sleds with reasonably similar mods were running close mph.
My 4 runs were all close; 108, 109, 108 and 107 mph. I'm not saying that the guys who have spent $30,000 on their sleds are crazy to get only another 21 mph. I'm saying that it would be nice to have a base line comparison of what mods do what in the end. Then you could put a dollar to hp ratio.; then it would be a matter of figuring out track, gearing, suspension etc for hook up.

Reverse, were there any "stock" turbo cats that ran that day. That would be a good comparison with your sled.

Did anyone think of putting a vent kit in there side panel so the the yamcharger would get more cold air?

Never though of that it is always better to have cold air rather then worm air.It should work better. Perry
