Could you please post the top speed of your stock XTX on groomed trail....I've read the XTX is the fastest viper and I'm thinking of changing my LTX's gearing to the XTX...thanks guys!n

The top speed issue is discussed here in great detail- see clutching on the cheap post as an example- some have tried gearing change but without clutching change not sure you gain much. I am not aware of any speed advantage of the 141s ie, XTX or STX DX.
Good luck

Oh my STXDX ranges 85 to 94 on snow. Remember that's 95 to 104 on old speedos as these are non inflated spot on.

I have seen 98mph when my viper was still stock on a lake

You have to remember that the overall gearing is lower on the XTX compared to the LTX. However, the XTX has the 8 tooth drivers and the LTX has the 9 tooth drivers. If you put the gearing out of the XTX into your LTX and don't also change the drivers you are going to actually increase your overall gearing instead of lowering it. A few turbo guys are putting the gearing out of the XTXs in their LTXs to increase the theoretical top speed and getting good results. I've never heard that the XTX is faster on the top end than the LTX. I would think just the opposite. My buddy's XTX SE tops out around 96 on glare ice. My Dad's stock LTX has hit 99 in the same conditions. Pretty sure the XTX is geared for high 90s where the LTX is geared for around 109 with the stock belt. You'll never hit 109 with out the turbo though. With the 8DN and the trail turbo mine hit 112 last year at close to full shift.

By all accounts that I have personally witnessed the XTX is not the fastest top speed due to gearing. The XTX is an uncoupled rear skid and loads very well and in most drag races apples to apples will out launch the LTX and RTX. Also the 1.6" paddle of the 141" track has better bite in the right conditions. When mine was 190 hp stage I MPI I ran against Yamahatim with the same set up in his LTX and a 1.6" Ice ripper track and would pull him by 1 to 1-1/2 sleds on the launch then we stayed even the rest of the ride till 104 and then he would creep by me as I ran out of gear.

Did you and Yamaha Tim have the same clutching while doing this race? I keep wondering if the both the XTX and LTX have the same clutching or not

Yes both had been built by Hauck and set up and clutched with his overdrive sheaves by him.

Rtx, ltx and xtx in stock form are all geared within 1 mph of each other, one thing to remember with top speed is that the clutches are most efficient in the first 2/3 of their travel, once you start getting closer to full shift the clutches/belt get less and less efficient, so taller gearing will keep your clutches running in the more efficient area of their travel which in turn will result in better mph, just gotta remember that for more speed no matter what you do you'll need more power and/or free up the rolling ability of the chassis which all too many times gets overlooked.
