Hey guys lookin for some help i do alot of ditch banging and just like to go out and pound drifts and ride in deep powder(dont want MTX) but yet ride on the trail....So what would be better a streched rtx or an xtx

If you do some jumping I would have to say a RTX/RTX-SE only because of the shock package and durability of the skid. How much length, well that's your choice but I'm happy with the 128" I have for mostly trail and some playing around, in deep powder I would think a 136" would be better but also more to deal with. A 128" with something like a 1.5" lug might be the happy medium.

Here's my Apex with an XTX skid. Best of both worlds IMO, rides trails great, but still has teh track to get through the deeper stuff when you want to.

What was the benefit in going from a 121 to a 128? Doesn't it only give you a few more inches of track on the ground? Did you have to make suspension changes for it?

If you do a lot of deep snow riding get the xtx. It has a better approach angle & gets on top of deep snow a lot better. The better angle also gives that sled more top end then a shortie.

My xtx is the best big bump yamaha sled i have ever owned(12 of em) & way better then my 08 fx nytro.

I am a bigger guy & have never ever bottomed out the rear skid in my xtx. I set the rear torsion springs to hard & I just can not bottom this thing out. 99% of riders don,t touch there suspension settings.

The XTX suspension is better than average in stock trim. I'm about 165lbs and have bottomed the skid out once in about 350 miles. Both ends of the suspension seem to get overwhelmed in higher speed bumpier terrain. I'm going to work on some stiffer springs and dampers for next year.

I agree with Turk on the fact that most people dont touch their settings. Most of the complaints I see are coming from the folks that simply need to learn to understand what settings to adjust. You can comletely change the riding characteristics of any modern sled by learning what to change and in what order. Just cranking up the springs to overcome rider weight is only part of the puzzle. That little book that comes with each sled is actually helpful in understanding how they work!

Not disagreeing with any of the above comments, but I stretched my RTX to 136 with a Cobra track, and some shock work from HYGEAR and the sled is light years better. I am not sure if the XTX has transfer rods on the rear skid, but I just haven't had any luck with the transfer rod type skids. YMMV
