I am not sure if I should post here, but here I go. I am stretching my 07 Attak with a 144" ZX2 skid and a 1.5 Camoplast Crossover track. I am using the Hartman tunnel extension kit for the 144 and using Wahl Brother's 9 tooth extrovert drivers. My question is, will I have to remove the tunnel protectors for the track to clear? I will not be running studs on this machine. The front heat exchanger protectors will probably have to be removed. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I run the same setup with an ExpertX in my 06 Attak. You will have to remove the tunnel protectors. Unless you are using the generic install directions and use the protectors as your base for the downward measurement. As far as the cooler protectors, I left mine in. The track lightly rubs on decel and braking. Mine has been like this for 4 yrs. and the protectors are mildly scuffed. As loos as you can run these Boivin skids, I didn't want to take mine out. You're going to love this setup. Perfect combination, IMHO, for equal parts trail riding an off trail riding. Good luck!

Thanks for the response Dave. I just removed the mono and had a look inside the tunnel. I was still running the 1.25 Ripsaw and the lugs look really close to the front heat exchanger protectors. Did you say that you are also running a 1.5" crossover track with 9-tooth extroverts and kept the exchanger protectors in? Also, once the tunnel protectors are removed, the exhaust is completely exposed. If I mount the ZX2 with the generic directions, will I be O.K with the exhaust exposed? Thanks.

No extro's, stock drivers. Tha Expert, and likely the ZX2, can be run very loose with no ratcheting. And yes, I've seen no evidence of contact without tunnel protection. I've been running an Excel MT Lite under tunnel for 2 yrs. and it's scuff free as well. If you go to the tech pages on TY Home page, there is an excellent write up of an install for an RX1. I followed those directions when installing mine. If you use the tunnel protectors as your base for measuring, you WILL increase the angle of attack at the front of the track. This would put the skid further out of the tunnel, allowing more clearance on top. Hope this helped you!!

I installed the expert X in my 06 Attak last season with the cobra 144. I ran it very loose and didn't have any rubbing up front. I will be going to an 1.75' for this season. dropping to an 8 tooth 6.25" dia. driver. I'm also moving the mounts down a 1/4" and back a 1/4" to accomadate the smaller driver. this will also give more clearence in the tunnel.

I have the same setup, 144" with ZX2. 1.5" crossover track with stock drivers. I removed my tunnel protectors but left in the front heat exchanger protectors. I haven't had any issues yet, but with that said, I only had minimun seat time on it last year due to lack of snow.
