So when I got my viper last year I noticed my positive battery cable was loose, I tried tightening it but wasn't able to so when I tried to remove the bolt it broke and I distorted the battery post. I was able to repair it and it all worked out fine. Fast forward to today where I picked up my wifes new 2015 viper and checked the battery posts. Sure enough the same problem again only thing is the bolt didn't break, the post did. Had the sled for 4 hours. I dropped the battery off at the dealership and they are contacting Yamaha Canada on Monday. So has anyone else had this issue or am I just so lucky that it happened twice?

Same dealer? Doesn't the dealer install the battery?

Dealers install Batteries in the States, can't speek for Canada. The lead Mechanic fills and charges all batteries for 24 hours prior to install at my dealer because of information from Yamaha that batteries were being undercharged at dealers. I installed remote charging port on my sleds that hook directly to battery terminals so I know mine are good. Small size of nut and bolt make stripping or braking bolt easy. 60 to 70 in/lbs of torque should be max.I would of thought so, so far they are saying no but they want to talk to there mechanic on Monday. Yes it is the same dealer as well.

That's good to know, I'm sure it's the same in Canada. Now more reason for the mechanic to lie as he will be backed into the corner. This could be interesting if it's the dealers fault, might get the runaround as it's going to cost them money. There was no way to remove the battery without wrecking it.

Should be interesting. Its not legal to transport with the battery hooked up is it?

They do it with cars and we did on STRYKERs being delivered to active duty units. I believe that even rolling stock loaded on ships have batteries installed and hooked up. However, these sleds were delivered in crates, not rolling stock which could make a difference!
