Stub shaft removal? (Problem solved)

Trying to remove my stub shaft because the bearing is not fully seated.
I can only get the stub shaft out so far. It is out far enough the bearing housing will spin but it will not come out any further. Almost feels like splines or something is catching.
Anyone else have this issue?

When I removed my stub shaft, after removing the bolts on the bearing collar, I set the primary clutch loosely on the stub shaft, threaded the primary bolt in about an inch then grabbed the primary clutch and slid it back and forth on the stub shaft like a slide hammer...this took very little effort and the shaft assembly popped right out.

Worked for me.

Clutch bolt with a sliding weight on it.....slide hammer action and it popped out.

Definitely need the hydraulic press to separate the stub shaft and its bearing.

IMO, should NEVER use hammer to pound these two parts into or out of each other. Hydraulic press only.

When I installed the Hurricane noise reduction stub shaft I was actually surprised how much pressure it took to press the bearing on the shaft to ensure it was fully seated. This was done with my hydraulic press.

When re-installing the bearing into the aluminum flange, can you reuse the old seal? Also, what are the torque specs on the 4 bolts?

Yes the old seal can be re-used .
The 4 bolts on the housing - just snug them up, dont kill them.
If i were to guess it would be 15 ftlbs

Service manual say 8.7 ft lbs. Put some blue loctite on them.

soo i removed snub shaft, it also pulls out seal from case, how do you put seal back in place since snub shaft is pressed onto bearing???

Outer bearing retainer will guide the seal back into place, start retainer into bore even, then evenly tighten the 4 bolts, criss cross.

perfect. i was originaly thinking that didnt make sence as then the bearing would be up against seal but its the outer ring of bearing that presses seal in and that is held stationary by bearing retainer. i smeared a thin skin of Optimum silicone on outer edge of seal so it slid into case easy then when it cures it wil be oil tight.
