Studding GT 96 or 144 or 192?

I personally went with the Ice Ripper track. My dealer swapped it over for me and it only added about $125. to the cost. It gives a little bit more on the safety side for braking which is what I was after. If you're really an aggressive rider I would suggest 144 with a double backer plus a single on each window down the middle. I feel that 96 just isn't enough due to the Apex's hp. As far as 192, unless you're into racing and buying long carbides, I wouldn't. That's a lot of rotating mass and a lot of holes drilled into your track.

Start with 96. You can always add more if you want.
I ran 192 in my RX-1 and hated it. I ran 108 in my Warrior, then upped it to 126 and thought it was just right ;)!

144 every 6th bar on out side with double backers, rest down the middle with double backers. None on the ones with the out side ones. Then 1, one more then 2, then one, then one, then none, then one ect. Works great

I run 216 Woody's on the back and 8" triple points in the front ,But that's just me,New Attak will be the same

Realistically you need atleast 144 for the 150hp the apex has...

If you are not a racer or aggressive rider just run 96 for added safety!

If you race your buddys alot... run 196.... id hate to see ya loose to anybuddy..LOL

I'm running 192 1.375 in a "V" patten on my apex.I'm pretty agressive and don't want any excuses about traction loss. I've ran 192 in the last 3 sleds I've owned and loved it. Just keep in mind with that many, you ability to make sharp turns in the trees are limited. You will push through then, even with 8" of carbide up front. ( 96 up the middle, 96 up the outer. I'm not sure about studding the outer belts every 6. I think that adds stress to each stud. If you studd the outer belts, stud them all.

With double backers and enough down the center it doesnt effect it at all.

Byoffcr,
Kool. I was just worried about the added stress. I'm not familiar with the double backers. I've always used the singles. Good info to know.

If you are a track spinner 96 will not be enough, you will just ruin the studs.Had two friends that had to replace their tracks on their Warriors, they didn`t have enough studs. One sled studs pulled through and tore out on the out side belt and the other had pull throughs and spit many pieces out the back by the time he got it home. The second guy drives like a mad man sometimes always spinning the track.
On my Warrior I put 162 just up the middle and had no problems. The familys sled ,the MXZ 600 with 1.25 track is unstudded and I never had an issue with it or my Warrior when riden unstudded.
Mininum of 144 on a 121 track.96 for long radar runs.
Don`t stud at all if you don`t plan on being on ice much.

Studding

Don't mean to encroach on your tread, just a quick q.

I have been riding a ski-doo mxz with 96 pins and stock runners.

This year (YES I jumped to Yammi) I am getting the Apex ER and I have been suggested to changethe runners to Woddy:s duallies 6"no studding.

Then someone told me I should get the 6" duallie and no studding.

I ride fast and aggresive, always on trails, lots of wooded trails...etc.

I don't want the feeling that I am riding on a train track, but want safety so that I can ride aggresively enough. Any tips would help.

On my 05 RX I ran 144 studs with the Woodies Duallie's and thought it was a great combination.

I intend on running the same on the Apex.
