Studding my New RTX

rafikie, those backers must be junk. I have never ever bent one like that and it looks like all of your are bent :o|

My new moto you get what you pay for. I spent 40-50 bucks for 192 backers and that is what they looked like after 100 miles. :o| Those where made by Snow Stuff and I don't recommend them for obvious reasons. I think the Mack backers are going to prove themselves to be the next backer of choice. ;)!

if you want to turn...carefully go to the outside...key point....when drilling use a sharp drill tool MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT BRAND OF STUD!...
150 HP = 192 for a 121" or what is it 216 for 136"?

Also...after numerous conversations ... 1.450 and keep the track tight!

What do you think caused those backers to bend like that?

The stud bending over?

Will the Manu give you new backers? Warranty?

never seen any do that!

Use Stud Boy Backers and Woody's 1.325 or 1.450 Woody's Megabytes. 144 down the middle. I used 1.325, but for drag racing I would use the 1.450.

honestly I think they are just to thin to do what I wanted the for. I was hard to see how thick they were in the package. perhaps they would have been ok for someone that is easy going and just looking for a little insurance on icy trails. I ran woody's backers 2 years back on the rage and twisted a couple of those after 1100 miles. if I had to compare thickness though I say these are 1/16" the woody's are 3/16" and the Macks seem to be about 1/8". I'll have to take some actual measurements just out of curiousity now. As for the Manufacture replacing them I'm really not interested. I look at it as a learning experience and now I know not to buy that brand.

Hey guys, got a good one for you, read all the questions and answers, didn't see one like this. Bought a 06 Apex RTX ER about six months ago. Sled came with a Camoplast free-ride cross-country 14''x 121'' 1.50 lug. track, off a Phazer, want to stud it, minimum, like 96 studs. Royal Dist. chart says to go with a 1.575 stud, the 9-tooth drivers were changed to 8-tooth, with only two drivers instead of four. Would I be okay with 96 1.575 studs? Don't want to turn this into a big project, or spend a lot, not an aggressive driver, most of my sledding takes place on hard pack and ice condition lakes. Would appreciate your ideas on this.

Hey screwed up again, didn't mean delete the whole ad, just my last reply to this ad, going with a different plan to change my skid, which I will post shortly, sorry about that, thanks again
