After 1st ride of season in NB,Canada(just recently moved here) I very quickly learned I need studs.I am going to do it myself, but find I am very confused over the many options. What should I buy? or is Studboy & Woodys my only choices? Can I buy them here in Canada or do I need to go online? And last I presume I can buy a complete kit with studs, backing plates, and track cutter, but am finding websites confusing and far to many choices? Any opinions or purchase opinions that could help narrow my search would be a great help. I only have a week to find, buy and install. I am am mostly going to be trail riding this season till I learn my way around and trails here are hard pack and icy.I travel on average 60-70 mph crusing speed and she stepping out like crazy

If your XTX has the ripsaw 1.25 these are the recommended studs from woodys and what I have on my XTX. Mine are installed in the middle of track only and not on sides as Woodys shows. You order the support plates separately I used the round ones. http://shopus.woodystraction.com/c/...d844a3ef277cb0dd62ccbf10970&redirected_post=1

I had dealer install. Not sure how many somewhere around 114 or more. You will have to buy a track cutter for your size stud unless its a push thru stud. Call Woodys and ask them. You can see the pattern on mine in the pic attached, repeats every 3rd row.

I would suggest that you go on the Royal Distributing website to view their catalog, I think in the traction section. It is pretty informative, has stud pattern templates and should be enough info to get you going. I had Studboys with their colored backing plates and they never failed me. You have to know the height of the lugs and pitch of the track to know how many studs to buy. Definitely not a good idea to put studs on the outside of the track. It effects cornering and shortens the life of the track. Good luck!
