I have '11 xtx, after losing control on icy road at high speed I have changed my mind about studding my track. I ride 90% trail. My question is how many studs should I go with for some stability with going overboard and risking track live and tunnel damage? Any thoughts or opinions ? This is best site for advice..Thanks in advance

Usually go with 2 per row and installed them in a wavy pattern. Not sure if this is clear enough. Once you tell them your track model and length they can usually tell you how much studs you'll need.

I have been to the Woody's website and they explain pattern, give choices to what studs to buy...but the amount/per package is different...and cant find anywhere how many I should use

just finished studding a xtx, there are 57 slots in the track so if you do 2 per slot you will need 114 studs.

Another way to do it is to do 4 per row but just do every other row. This will let you put them in where you will get more scratch lines going forward for straight line or breaking traction but less side bite so you can slide more in the corners like you are used to without studs. I believe studboy has a pattern for this. That's 8 lines going forward where as 2 in every row only gets you 6.

I have gone two per pitch/row I some times do outside rail alternating sides to get 3 per pitch. For just trail riding I am satisfied with 2 per pitch and staying up the middle in V pattern
