Hi everyone. I've got an '03 RX1ER converted to a mountain 151", tunnel and all. I have a camoplast crossover 151x15x1.5" track I'm installing, and I'd like to add at least a few studs on it for the multiple icy days we get in New England. I've read on here that studs over 1.45" are bad, however I'll need a 1.52" to get the 1/4" of penetration. Considering the western Mtn sleds are running 2"+ of lug height, would I be able to get away with this? After tearing up my old track and heat exchanger I've learned to be very conscious of track spin.

Like you already said, the Stud the length you would like to use is bad. I would not stud the track.

If you are running where you need studs, you should probably have a track with a lower lug height. Running high lug height where it is icy will ruin the new track and hyfax. Having studs out in the powder, what that track is for, will catch junk and tear out, cause you are spinning the track out in the powder.

I guess you got to figure out where you really want to ride and set the sled up for those conditions. If you ride in extremely different conditions, then you need to set it up so that it works in both. So, ... Skip the studs if you are going out in the powder and keep the lug hight down if you are going to windup on icy trails. This type of compromise is why we have cross-over sleds like AC's Crossfire or Yamaha's Nytro XTX.

If you install smaller drivers then no problem on studding that track.I would install some anti-ratchet drivers and you'll be good to go.That track isnt good on ice.Any questions let me know.
