128" Track on the Shorty
EPS
Possibly II Gen R1 Motor, or 1052 Watercraft Based - we know it has 4 pipes
1052 is Dry Sump like the Apex
Peak power is at 10,200 RPM - same as 1052 - which has 160hp
I'd be very surprised if it isn't the 1052 - Behold the Genesis 160
Spindles 1-2" Shorter - Combined with Lower Motor Meaning COG could be 2-3" Lower - helps explain much better handling
New Seat that is 2-3" Higher
New Ski Design
Nice Size trunk - Holds a lot of stuff

What changed between Gen I R1 nd Gen II - How much more HP?

I'm guessing you are correct about the 1052 motor. Makes a lot of sense. Stats from the watercraft:

Yamaha MR-1TM four-stroke engine. This is a compact, ultra-lightweight, four-cylinder, 1052cc, DOHC, 20-valve, liquid-cooled engine for class-leading performance.
Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI): Delivers a smooth, high power output with low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions.
Specially Designed, One-piece Cylinder and Crankcase Assembly: Provides tremendous engine rigidity that's lighter and stiffer than two-piece designs.
Slant Detection Switch: Electronic switch stops engine and oil pumps immediately if watercraft becomes overturned, protecting motor from water ingestion.
Dry Sump Lubrication: Uses two engine oil pumps to deliver lubricated oil to each moving part with water-jacketed sump and oil backflow protection.

From what I have read the change of the R1 to the new motor has resulted in a 14hp loss. I truely believe that this new apex will have the 160hp 1052 motor. I will have a 170hp apex/yamacharger motor.. I'll be happy... I think..

The 09-10 R1 is only detuned in the us model to meet noise and epa regs. It has a throttle by wire (no cable) that when fully open will only give 80% power.
There is already a flash available that will bring it back up to full power.
Can't see them restricting a snowmachine motor like they do the R1 also the 09 crosplane has some wicked vibraton at certain rpm's that would probably not make for a good sled motor.

Black access plate is back on the bottom of the sled show in the eagle river pics.
How much lighter than the current motor would the 1050 be?

Langow, is that your 433 in your avatar?

Not my sled, just a pic I found on the web. The GP433 was the 1st sled I ever owned though. Lots of great memories of that machine. Wish I still had it.

i hope your right, Yamaha is always trying to go in the right direction, i'm going to sit out this year and maybe get the 2012, after 06 Attak and 07 Phazer fx i going to wait and see how trouble free they are

My father had a 433 when I was a kid. I feel exactly the same way. ;)!

Someone saw that the Deltabox was webbed. Sounds like Yammie's been taking the Dremel tool to the sled. Maybe we will see something more like 20-30 lbs off, it sure felt lighter.

Updated List

128" Track on the Shorty
EPS - Adds about 2-3 lbs and definitely worth it
Possibly II Gen R1 Motor, or 1052 Watercraft Based - we know it has 4 pipes
1052 is Dry Sump like the Apex
Peak power is at 10,200 RPM - same as 1052 - which has 160hp

Spindles 1-2" Shorter - Combined with Possibly Lower Motor Meaning COG could be 2-3" Lower - helps explain much better handling
New Seat that is 2" Higher - Looks a lot lighter as well
New Ski Design
Nice Size trunk - Holds a lot of stuff
Handle Bar Warmers that work
Webbed Deltabox seen - Delta Box III?
Lighter Spindles - Shorter and Relieved

Possibly 20 lbs lighter?

If they went to the effort of webbing the Deltabox, maybe they went to town on other stuff, getting rid of the steel?
