wow for the last 2 years all we have been reading on here is, i wish yamaha would put power steering on the apex ( which no one has praised yet
) i wish i had more wind protectin, i want a new seating position, man yamaha skies suck, we need a new exhaust, and motor need updates then the apex gets eps, a taller wide windsheild, taller seat, wow new skies, industry first exhaust, looks a 128 skid for more power to the ground how many ppl have tried to race someone and just spun, 2 dc outlits one for cell one for gps , changed fornt end geomerty to combat ski lift what else can the do most apex riders dont want a young man nytro i say the nailed it and i have to quote some about the motor
i dont know the hp but it uses the same case as the current apex motor so why wouldnt the call it the genssis 150 the inturnals or the motor have defentally changed but i could be wrong about the motor still could be 150 hp. and all this goes alone with the improvements since 2006 with rear coolers, new axels wheels lighter ... so id say this brings the apex 1 step close to perfection just because it dosnt have a new name dosnt mean its you same old apex.
what will it take to make some of you happy! anyway i am happy with the new sled
just my 2 cents

The new Apex engine received many modifications to improve power output and control, including a new air-box with modified intake funnels, revised intake cam timing, and new 38mmm 4-into-1 titanium exhaust with EXUP. These changes do increase peak power, but also dramatically improve throttle response and low-to-midrange torque.
We changed the lift angle of the intake valves from 104° to 109° increasing the overlap of the intake/exhaust valves which when combined with EXUP results in more power and a smoother power delivery.
Lightweight forged aluminum pistons with a new dome shape for uniform combustion are very strong, yet lightweight, and reduce vibration while running quieter.
ISC ensures stable idle right after starting. Not only does it improve starting and idling stability, it also controls changes in idling speed to facilitate warm-up, with improved starting and idling performance at higher altitudes. ISC also incorporates EBRS = Engine Braking Reduction System.
Addition of a knock sensor adjusts the ignition timing to prevent irregular combustion. If lower octane fuel is used the ignition timing will automatically compensate by retarding the ignition timing to prevent knocking, to ensure consistent and reliable engine performance.
The shape and length of air funnels, along with the air cleaner have been
redesigned to work in conjunction with EXUP for superior performance.
New 38mm titanium exhaust pipes form a 4-into-1 unit, tuned for improved power development at higher rpm. Larger diameter tubing combined with EXUP improves the efficiency of pressure waves from each cylinder that resonate inside the exhaust pipes, thereby improving performance in the medium and high rpm ranges. The new design uses shorter diffuser and moves the muffler further forward contributing to better mass centralization.

It should have 160 hp but with no need to give the motor a new name kept it as genesis 150. The 2010 Vector is still called the genesis 120, as well as the genesis 130 in the nytro. We all know these motors produce more hp than stated. Yamaha is just keeping it modest for your insurance. Or to pull the wool over the competitions eyes...? I'm not sure why they do it exactly, but we all know better.

I think people want to be "WOWED" whenever there is a new release...something that will truly make the industry really take notice, not lulled into a "Not again, same sled, yawn". That's what Yamaha needs to gain in sled sales.
I do like the new sled, maybe I will be able to afford a used one from the States in a couple of years.

i think it is a great sled but 14000 is alot of money for a sled
I think everyone still thinks about the weight in the back of there mind, and this years improvements may have added to it.
Its going to take a lightweight 2 cyl. e-tec type motor in a competitivly lightweight chassis to WOW the ppl that aren't WOWed already.
Nytros are a great attempt but still out weigh a comparably powered doo by 80 to100# and the 18 to 40 crowd like the sno-X win factor of the other 3.

With the new price tag they put on the apex, it should off been a new model from the ground up. I think the apex XTX is a great sled just bit to much off a price jump in 1 year.

I'd agree nice looking sled but the price tag is just way to high. I mean what are they thinking? Yamaha didn't produce that many 2010's. Due to pre-orders and the bad economy. That's what I was informed by my dealer. Well the economy hasn't gotten any better. Unemployment rate is getting high everyday. Alot of jobs that are available don't even pay the rent or house mortgage. So how can they justify this price tag. Are they trying to make up there money from last years sales? Heck you can buy a motorcycle cheaper. And a nice car. Well I'm glad I like my sled so I'll keep it for a nother year or so.

Agreed. Nice sled for sure, although I am certainly not sold on the need for EXUP on a snomobile, but even the warrior to apex GT was only a 13.5% increase, and the apex GT 07-apex GT 08 was 8.0%. Maybe this would have been better received by everyone if it had been a phased introduction with moderate price increases. Everyone is hurting a little right now, and 20.5% jump is enough to leave anyone with sticker shock when the other models averaged under 3.0%. Given a few years with little or no price increase, this may be a winner. They could offer a version with a supercharger in a year or two for a relatively modest 10% increase if the math works out the same as on their watercraft to satisfy the horsepower fanatics (myself included).

I paid back in the fall of 2003 $9250 OTD for my spring ordered Warrior. New apex XTX is $14 ,399. By my math that is an increase of 55.6% since the 2004 model yr. I wish I could get a wage increase of 55.6%. I'm pretty sure the cost to build the sled has not gone up 55.6% . Welcome Yamaha to the world of Corperate greed what took you so long.

Use the full retail price of your Warrior if you are using the full retail price of a 2011. Run the numbers then. It will be more accurate.

I think the increase is out of line, considering historical context, if one looks at the lineage of the Apex:
YR/////////MODEL//////MSRP////% Increase from Previous YR
2003//////RX-1 ER//////$9,149////// -
2004//////Warrior///////$9,449//////3.3
2005//////Warrior///////$9,599//////1.6
2006//////APEX GT/////$10,899/////13.5
2007//////APEX GT/////$11,199/////2.8
2008//////APEX GT/////$12,099/////8.0
2009//////APEX GT/////$12,099/////0.0
2010//////APEX GT/////$12,399/////2.5
2011//////APEX SE/////$14,949/////20.6
It's still close to 50% and the SE is way over 50%. It's a good product, even the BMW or Mercedes of snowmobiles, but with how winter and the economic climate have become, who can justify such high prices but a very small segment of people. I don't how many people's income went up 20% this year, but mine certainly didn't, and the portion I can spend on hobbies like sledding is getting smaller.

CWCSRX700 boy are those numbers different now $9250 compared to $9499. Hell I'am going to run out and buy 6 since the dam things are such a good deal. I was making a point of how much the price has increased thru the years . Forgive me for being off a few hundred I'll do better research next time.

I just wondered what the percent was then, sorry. Good thing my turbo Nytro is so fun to ride.
