I used an air cut off tool (like a big dremel). I made an electrical tape outline where I wanted to make the cut. Then I cut through the middle of the tape. This does 2 things: keeps the plastic from flying all over (still does some, but less) and also makes a smoother edge as it doesn't let the plastic re-melt together while your'e cutting. Then I took a DA with 220 paper and smoothed it all out. Final step, I put the black trim piece back on with 30 min. epoxy. Can't tell it from factory, except its shorter. I had to cut it down so the bars would clear when rotated fully forward.
