ive had 2 odessy batteries in my supercharged sled
over a 4 year period
if its cold 15f or below overnight forget about it starting
it cranks slow and will flood
i have to use a manetic heater on oil tank, charge battery and
disconnect injector harness to clear flooded engine
(i know about the coolant heater not working on fi sleds)
this will happen every night if the temp dip below 15f
but if i keep it warm it starts right up and runs all day
ok is their a better battery that can lay flat or a bigger/better
one than what mountain sold me(odessy) and i dont care about
weight
thanks for the help

Duane,
What is the CCA (cold cranking amp) rating on that Odessy battery you have been using? Is it smaller then the stock Apex CCA?
Is the battery relocated on your setup? Size matter?
I run the bigger RX1 size battery in my Turbo Apex, more amps then the standard Apex size, due to the fact I have more electrical draw with the oil scavenge pump, second fuel pump, Lamda sensor, IC fans, coffee maker, etc.
Just have to get the model that has the + and - post locations reversed for the Apex (opposite of the RX1) if mounting in the stock location.
I've had no troubles cranking over fast enough to fire down to below -20F, you probably have a little more drag turning a blower in addition.
What weight oil are you running?

If you hook a car battery to the sled will it whirl right over much faster then the odessy battery? I posted in the apex forum in response to your post but I am going on year 5 and have never even thought to worry about the battery. Started the SC sled in -30 below last winter when everyone elses wouldn't Amazing little battery to me. I'm wondering if you have charge and or starter issue with yours.
