Suspension Adjustment 2012 Apex

Do you guys mind telling me what size socket/wrench I need to loosen the axle nut on my rear suspension on a 2012 APEX. I am having to put the rear suspension back in the sled after fixing the tunnel protectors (thanks yamaha) and studding the track. It appears the tool kit does not even have the right size tool to adjust the rear suspension while on the trail. Thanks in advance, I know this nut is slightly larger than 1 inch or the metric equivalent.

On the 2012 128inch Apex it has a hollow rear axle that has a 32 mm or 1.25 inch nut that holds the axle tight. Yamaha chose not to provide a tool for this...

ok on my '11 apex xtx its 17 and 19mms. 32mm would be on some passenger cars. Cant see the rear axle nut being that large

so what are you asking? It looks like your looking for size info on your suspension adjustment and your axle as well?

I was finished studding my track and needed to put the track back where it came from. Part of the problem is that Yamaha factory tunnel protectors are not sufficient to keep your studs from hitting the exhaust. So they ask you to shim the protectors down 5mm, not an acutal service bulletin since they don't recognize/recommed studding. So I needed to put it back together and that required track clearance, I like the outside track adjustment, very simple but on this model year the axle nut is 32mm. Yamaha did not provide a tool and buying a 1.25 inch socket solved the problem. I doubt I will carry this on the trail with me...

FYI

they also don't supply a wrench for the transfer nuts on the XTX either. I think it's 1 1/4" as well. how the heck can you carry a wrench that size to make adjustments. better yet why didn't they make that a collar that you could adjust by hand like the ones i have on both of my SRX's or the type of collar the aftermarket came up with to adjust the rear spring compression. even a short opened end wrench in the kit for that purpose would help.

thats why I carry a full wrench set from 1 inch to 2 1/2 inch on my apex at all times. Its only 67 lbs, and has 24 extremely sharp edges. I dont even know its back there! Also, if a dirt contractor like myself is along the trail with two deere scrapers, I can help him change hitches in no time!
