- Nytro RTX SE
If you had an opportunity to "demo ride" either of these two sleds, please comment and compare how the suspensions felt to you. I am especially interested in how the suspension of the '09 FX Nytro RTX SE felt. How would it feel for a day of trail riding?
Please also indicate what your thoughts may be of the two suspensions even though you may not have ridden either sled.

Have you rode the RTX? Thats a stiff ride I can only imagine how stiff the SE will be. Hey they giving us what we pay for. No false advertising. After a 250+ mile day im sore from the RTX but it could just be because of the amount of bones ive broken and surgeries ive had from MX racing. Its much more comfortable to stand then sit your always sitting in a very aggressive position

According to the DVD that came with the 09 brochure there claiming that you can dial down the Fox shocks for a all day ride or crank them up for the serious ditch banging!!

Not a very good test but demo of SE at Geneva yesterday it was real smooth.Didnt seem stiff at all.

The -08 RTX comfort problem has got nothing to do with the shocks being "snocross like", because they are not...
The comfort problem is more likely coming from the fact that some smart #*$&@ decided to deliver the RTX socks with a massive amount of low-speed damping and almost a total lack of high-speed damping. This generates a suspension that is very un-compliant when going across small ripples at moderate speeds, still bottoming out from big hits.
I have tried a number of different hydraulic settings in my shocks. The hydraulic settings that I am using right now has got only like a third of the low-speed compression damping constant of the OEM shocks, but close to the double high-speed compression damping constant. Last Saturday I had my dealer ride my sled in a proper back-to-back test versus his box-stock demo RTX. He could not believe how comfy and compliant my sled was, still offering better bottoming resistance...
Let us hope that Yamaha will use a slightly different setting theory for the SE, otherwise it is going to be one more good season for the aftermarket companys...
