Taking apart the primary clutch

Hi.. It's not to hard if you have the right tools. I took my primary clutch apart in my rage last year to put the new slider o-rings in. You need the tool to hold the clutch and the tool to unscrew the spider. I think I got mine from haucks. It was an after market set. Mine was not very tight at all. You will also need locktite for the threads on the spider. Also you will also need a puller to get the clutch off the sled. It might be cheaper to have the dealer do it than to buy all the tools. why do you need to get the clutch apart ?

clutch

some of these can be very tuff to get of 1 st its left hand thead ahd when you put i back you MUST spread the lock tite evenly on the threads or you run the risk of haveing the inside sheve splitting.

Im going to be installing an over drive sheaves when they get here, For some more top end ;)!
Alittle advise on the speed sheeve,i only recommend hauch speed sheeve,as i have already tried maxx per. and it sucked belts up like it was my confusion,i switched to hauch on my 03 rx1 and never had another problem, and had 4,000 miles on it and same belt, and i just had woody install a sheeve on my attak while it was in for repairs,so i know i will be in for some more tuning of my clutches once i get it back,as the speed sheeve causes your stock or whatever clutching you now have to underev by 200-300 rpms even if you lower your gear ratio some...this is where the adjustable weights come in handy, but no fear even the stock yammi weights are adjustable, just pain in butt a little more than s.t. h.h. or h.c..... weights.. So yes you need the grunt tool to remove the sheeve from the spider,as black john stated it is reverse thread and has lock tight so heat it up some before trying to remove, and when reinstalling be careful of the shims two of them as they are tappered if memory serves me right, now you can modify them to as they come in different sizes for belt pinch i think, like i said its been awhile,so good luck. ;)!

Will do snow beast. I have the vx ajustable weights so it souldnt be to hard . Todd 8) .

Tod if you want to keep the stock gering in try taking out a gram out of the tip if it's under eving if that's not enough try taking a little more out.

Hi todd can you tell us a little bit more info about the vx weights are they the hauch launching type,if so they look sweet, please keep us posted.

Don't waste your money on a Speed sheave.

1. Think about what your doing. The speed sheave is actually cut at a different angle then the stock Fixed sheave.

2. The Stock sheaves "fixed and movable" are Both the same angles. I beleive 13 degrees.

3. Now you have one sheave that it X angle and another the is Y angle.

4. Now you have a Primary that shifts out more. If you don't change the secondary to shift further it useless.

The Right way to do is have the Helix,Secondary and primary Machined for Overdrive. The Speed sheave is a gimmick!!!!
