Get a back pack, riden the gas tank leanen from corner to corner, your not going to want anything in front of you.

Tryed most bags over the years; even on the non rider forward sleds the front bags are a pain in some way or another; I realize you don't want to cover up an asthetically pleasing part of your sled but the back saddles are the way to go... you can also put it on and off easily and probably would not need it all the time. You don't even know they're there. My buddy had the same delemma and tryed numerous ones; ended up going to the back saddles but found some smaller ones that sat beside the seat and really don't cover up much of the sled at all.

In the end I went with just a windshield bag. I found this to be not enough for me last season. So this year I am going with the Yamaha backpack. You get more storage and if I decide I don't like it there is no damage to the sled.

Vector I just purchased. I ordered bag SMA-8FA83-00-00 and tried it
on the vector. It is too bulky and takes up too much seat room for my
wife. It also has velcro that is suppossed to "glue" on the side under
the hood but it doesn't make sense because no flat place to glue
it under the hood.
I am very dissapointed with this bag and will not be using it. Now I have
to try to get the dealer to take it back.
What have others found successful for storage ? My wife is concerned
about the windshield bag as it may block some ofher view through
the windshield. She is about 5'0" tall. Can anyone comment on that ?
Other recommendations for storage or a better fitting tank bag ?
I have a yamaha tank bag on my 04 Viper S and it fits great.
Thanks
The velcro tape attaches to the windshield. You may have the bag upside down. Mine sits very low and does not obstruct my view but I am 6'2".
Actualy; he's talking about the tank bag. The velcro for it is attached to the tube frame just in front of the tank cowling. You can see mine attached here.
As for caldwell54's question about visability for his wife; atached is another picture showing the view from the side on my sled. This is a mountain bars set up with a low chrome windshield. However it appers that the bag is again as high as the instrument cluster (about an additional 4").

Thanks guys for the input. I ordered a $30 windshield bag and will see
how it does. In the meantime I can't find my receipt for the $100 tank
bag.
Anyone need a tank bag cheap ?
Thanks

Dean; I'd take it in a heartbeat if it would fit the wife's RMK 900 but it won't. If nothing else install it for your wife and just take the tank bag off/leave the saddle bag part on the sled when she rides it as seen in my picture. They don't hold alot for storage but do offer more storage for a camera spare gloves etc. I can usually stuff a 20 poweraide in each side pouch and my spare plugs for both sleds are in the smaller compartments.

I've been thinking about doing just this for my camera gear this winter. However, I'm worried about flying off the sled and breaking my camera. I guess first thing will be to see if my cam will fit in the side bags on the tank. If not, my dad has a venture with saddle bags. I know it will fit there. I think either way I'll be leaving my tripod at home, though it would be nice to get some action shots from a stable position...

for what its worth....the tank bag off of the 2 strokes actually fit ok on the rs tank....took one off our 98 v-max and put it on the rage....the bag was bought in 04 or 05...style varied a bit from the viper bag I have.

I had a tank bag on my 2000 Venyure and now I have one on my Venture GT, I love them they hold a ton and I have found the odd time they get into the way but for the most part they are great...The only thing I did was sew a patch of fleece on the back so it wouldn't scratch my sled ...

I have tank bags on both of my RX1's. I have moved the bars forward and stuffed the seat to be more of a APEX style ride. To make the tank bag work, I just mount the center bag upside down and still attached to the velcro.
That works for me, but my much shorter daughter with shorter arms feels cramped.
For her if we are not on a saddle bag trip, she just uses the side pockets as they were never a problem or in the way. I like to have the map in front of me.

the tank bag will interfere a little bit, but moreover it will scratch up the tank considerably. But the storage is handy with a map right there in front of you. It really is just personal preference, but i dont really like mine.
