Just wondering if anyone has put an after market temp gauge on their apex ? I put one on my RX -1 and loved having it.

Yes but you have to put the sending unit in the right spot so that it reads engine temp.

Yup, I did.

Can you give us some details, part numbers and a pic ?
Why would YAMAHA give us a barometer, and not a built in temerature gauge ?
I,m not a nurse, but I could certainly tell em where to stick that barometer.
I cann,t imagine adding an extra few ounces for the sender would of convinced anyone that the sled was just too heavy ? LOL

I have the Daytona brand that I bought from Ulmer Racing. I really like knowing what the engine coolant temperature is while I am riding. It is backlit and is easy to read day & night. I used the velcro strips that come with it to stick it to my handlebar pad as you can see in the picture. It comes with the sending unit and it is easy to install.

02ViperMody44, Thanks for reminding me that I like your's better than mine, LOL! If my Daytona dies or I buy a new sled I will certainly get the one that you have.

This also reminded me of the debate regarding the best place for the sending unit. Did we all end up agreeing that the horizontal hose as shown in Tbay Sledhead's picture above is the best place for accurate reading of the engine coolant temperature?

Ha! I personally opted for the vertical position as when I took measurements for the sensor body, it was pushing the thermostat housing into the body plastics and was actually bulging it out a little. I've never had the idiot light come on, on my sled, so I'm assuming it is getting a pretty accurate reading when running.
