I was on Dootalk tonight and someone brought up the topic of tethers...Why does Yamaha not have a tether and is there one from Yamaha you can install....After reading the posts over there I think it would be a good thing to have....
How many Doo owners actually ride with the tether hooked to them? I rode for awhile until i understood how dangerous an un maned sled is when the throttle is pinned. I started wearing it years ago and have not had any issues or close calls. Recently a friend was climbing a mountain and wrecked his sled, flipped upside down and pinned the throttle. There was no tether on this sled and it ran wide open, sucking the rider into the track and tore his arm off at the elbow. He laid at the top of the mountain getting gored by his machine as people scrambled up the hill too shut the machine down, about 2 minutes. He will be done sledding! I hope bringing this up can help others that don't see the need for the tether, they can be a hassle at times, but better than laying in the mountains fighting for life!
Ride safe! Or as safe as can be when taking big risks.
