The Easy Way to Pull the Skid!

So everyone has their way to pull the skid but I think this is the easiest way to do it. You don't have to remove any rear wheels. You don't have to ratchet down the skid to get it in or out and you don't even have to loosen of the track.

First thing is to flip the sled on it's right side. I placed a couple of ATV tires under the back of the tunnel to lift it up (important). Loosen off the two front bolts that hold the skid in but don't remove them. Once its flipped over remove the rear bolts that hold the skid in.

With the rear bolts removed allow the skid to pivot out.

Move the skid forward and the track become very loose allowing for an easy skid removal.

Now remove the two front bolts to remove the skid.

Took about 20 min. When reinstalling you don't need to collapse the suspension. There is enough slack in the track. I also did it this way when I had the 121 skid and works just as well.

If anyone is wondering, I removed the skid to replace a cracked suspension arm. I was going to go for a ride today and and decided to do a little suspension adjustment and noticed a crack developing.

So rotating the sled to that side is a non issue since the oil resevoir is on that side? I need to do a track swap before next season.

Roll it to the right. The oil will stay in the reservoir can. When you flip it back on it's feet give a couple of minutes before you start it to allow the oil to settle back too where it belongs.

Motors has been running fantastic. The new arm I put in is the one from your sled that you reinforced so it should be good for a long time.

Excellent news.
That arm actually was a 'new take off' from a dealer I bought on Ebay for $50 after my "updated" W kit busted.
Neighbor milled part of the solid aluminum link to fit old style arm & reinforced it with 3/16" plate gussets.

I'm laid up again with more herniated disc problems, same #*$&@ as last season.

Just realize, that why I had a hell of a time getting that arm to work with my aluminum pivot! The profanity that came from the garage that afternoon caused small children to cry but I got it installed.

Get well soon, take it easy and before you know it you'll be doing back flips.

It was milled perfectly too, we mixed old with new & had me back on the trail for the weekend.

Yeah still have it but I was able to sneak the arm in without taking the skid apart. Just couldn't figure out why it was so tight but manage to get it too work.
