I had issues with the stock seat wearing out by the end of the day and I wanted to be a little higher to see if it would be better on my knees so I went to buy a wrp seat turns out you reuse your seat pan so you have to take apart the seat. Now I am the last person to get cold but I love the heated seats in the car and even though I don't have room in the budget I thought maybe a cheap China set off eBay would work. We'll I looked and most sets were for 2 seats and had rectangular buttons and I with no square drill bits I found a one seater that cost about as much as the cheap 2 seater and it had a nice round button so I figured what the heck for 60 bucks we will give it a try and if it dies who cares.
First I laid out all the parts for the heated seat kit.
Remove old cover and I found out why seat was wearing out the foam was breaking apart in there.
See all the foam particles on the old cover.
The whole thing is crumbling like that.
Next is the wrp seat foam.
I found the best lay out for the two pads and used two sided tape that came in the kit to stick it to the foam it even came with self adhesive felt to pad the edges.
Sorry only photo was the test fit on the sled. Next I needed to run the wires from the surface to the underside where they can plug in. I heated a piece of 3/8 all thread with my map gas torch till it was glowing a little and poked thru the foam up in the middle back where it won't be sat on. I actually had to heat it twice to get all the way through. I ran the wires through and through the holes in the pan where the stock seat cover was attached into the trunk I drilled a 1/2 inch hole up high I the trunk wall and ran the wires out. I sealed up the hole with silicone gasket material I had laying around.
I had to wire in the controls next had to find a spot for control box.
That needed a constant power from the battery and a switch power I hitched in with a relay down below for and off there comes the wires for the switch.
I put in the dash panel and the wires that plug into the heat pads that I ran under the tank and back to where they plug into the seat.
Next was the hard part the seat cover. Now this is tricky you have to wait till you have the right free time and take it to the canvas guy up the road and pay him 25 bucks and it's done.
