Thinking of ordering a new Attack GT any feedback from the 06 guys on pros and cons of the sled . One of my ? is how is the hifax wear.

My Attak is the best sled I've ever riden & I've been riding for over 30 years!!!

Wear on the hifax was no issue for my 3000 miles!

They wear about 25-30% quick, then last a long time!!!

i love mine, sliders as stated wear fast and then stop. i have replaced my wheels with polaris wheels,no more problems, i have also replaced the mono spring with a 6,5 spring no more bottoming., increased my transfer to about 80% of the travel ,no more darting

I have got a 2006 RX Warrior (the european version of Attak) that is used mainly for aggressive trail riding.
My sled is modified using Ohlins shocks (the electronically adjustable shock in the rear), C&A Pro skis, Excell Motorsports exhaust and also some smaller cosmetic changes.
I can not really comment about the performance of the stock sled because most of my modifications have been used since the sled was brand new. Anyway, after installing these modifications and giving the suspension and the weight transfer some setup time, I am very happy about this sled. Right now I would say that, in total, this is probably the quickest and best trail sled I have ever ridden or owned (including couple of modified two stroke Yamahas, an older RX-1 and a modified Ski-Doo REV). It is for sure not as quick as the REV on very tight trails and probably not as compliant in the very big bumps, but as soon as the trail opens up just a little bit it will smoke the REV just by the combination of engine power, suspension function and chassis stability.

I can not really think about any cons except for the quite heavy weight, but if you are planning to buy one I guess you already knew about that. Anyway, the heavy weight seems to be very well balanced, you do not really think about it when riding. The only time you really notice is when you get stuck or when you move it around on the garage floor (that is why you have got reverse, stupid...).

If you are a frequent visitor to this site you are for sure aware about some problems that have been reported. I have never experienced any of these problems (wheels that fall apart, shocks that leak, shock wires that break, tunnels that bend, chaincases that blow, darting, etc.), yet my sled has been ridden very hard. The hand warmers are a little bit on the cold side, but the fix with the plastic washers is working also in Sweden...

Like somone else said about the hyfax wear, they wear quite quick in the beginning but after that initial wear they seem to last for a very long time (in the end I guess no better no worse than any other sled).

I ordered one! 2007 Attak GT Black. shhh... my riding buds are going deficate a pink twinkie when this shows up in my garage!

Pros: 4-stroke power, no smell, great looks, better fuel economy, no oil to fornicate with, orgasmic sound.

I have yet to hear of one user that has absolutely hated their Apex / Attak.

Cons: May be heavy... have to wait to ride it to decide. ummm... expensive? not really when you look at the other mfgs price structures.

Guys,

I have read all the heavy posts then still bought a Apex GT and it is the lightest feeling sled I have ever ridden, I think the Rev may be a little more nimble yet, but the last thing I thought about while riding is that the sled was heavy I was smiling so big I was trying not to have my lips split and Bleed.

I love the E start, Reverse, gas and go. Good looking, rides great, is fast , smooth and when I get a real windshield I will be in Sled Heaven

some initial slide wear, then stops. Changed wheels to8EK's, precision skis -shimmed, 144 studs, GYT-R front shocks-love 'em, got the rear shock set and threw the cable away. 3980 miles this season and can't wait to ride this sled again next season. Absolutly no regrets going to a long track from a shorty. This is my 12th new yamaha since '86 and is certainly the best! Although there is still some fond memories of my '93 exciter

I have a tricked out modded 3 piped Viper with an 136" ExpertX suspension and many other mods, but I'm ready for a new project sled!
I am getting an Attak GT!!!!!!!!!!!
Will miss my 136" Tricked Out Triple - Triple, they don't make them anymore!

What do I need to do for mods on the 2007 Attak GT?
Simons skis for sure.
Wish one could order the GT in Yami Blue!

My Mods I,m Thinking Of

I,m going to put the ulmer stage 2 clutch kit and hauck pipe. I think the 4 into 1 made by excell motorsports is more bang for your buck but I cannot get away from the dual pipes,13mm swaybar is a must and also going to put a rear heat exchanger on with a temp gauge. Thats the basics of the mods I,m going to do I,m sure there will be some addons down the road.

i dont think you will be unhappy with the sled , as stated i love mine.
ps just got a call from my dealer 396 miles in for first Oil lube filter.
got a call , my chaincase seal is leaking like a stuck pig.
should be fixed today .hope!

What do I need to do for mods on the 2007 Attak GT?

Just my opinion, but if you want to be able to turn the sled in soft trail conditions you WILL need a different ski than the standard ski.

What C and A skis do you have on your attack?

I have got the old C&A Pro race skis (similar to the current model called ADX) with Stud Boy Shaper Bars 6x60. I am very satisfied with this combination.
I have also tested a set of C&A XT. For sure better floatation in deep powder and for sure even better steering response and traction on very soft trails. Though, in my opinion, a little bit too aggressive on hard packed trails.

Totally different machine.. better ride, better handling, better siting position, tons of trunk space, its a power house..
