Hit an ice block probably a foot high at around 50mph last Saturday with the left front ski. Impact almost had me off the sled and luckily I landed on one ski and kept it from going over. Was about two sled lengths before left side of sled finally came down and NO DAMAGE! NONE Didn't even foul up ski alignment. TRY THAT WITH A POLARIS!

Every time I ride this chassis (2014 M8) I like it better!

Thought this might be good news if any of you had reservations about how strong this front end is.

That would total out a nytro , well maybe not total it out but the whole front end would need to be replaced
That's for the info , that's good to hear!

Yep! I ruined a front end on a Nytro in a hit that was about half that impact.

I ruined the front end of my Nytro at 1/10 of that at less than 5 mph. Nice to hear the front end seems strong on the Vipers.

Yes, good to hear. Man you have to watch out for those ice chunks!

Ah good to hear, never had an issue with my nytro front end and its an 08 hunh

Not to ruin your guy's parade but we had opposite experience with 2013 800 rr, the guy who drove it bent the left bottom a-arm and he doesn't remember hitting anything. And I also seen him fly over the handle bars on his 144 assault because he hit a rock and drove off without a scratch. It's just probably how and when you hit something I guess?

You're funny...never miss a chance to bash the Nytro!! I truly hope your Cat is a great sled, I'd like one some day...great handling but build quality/durability I haven't seen that yet?

This man's talking the truth! The front subframe on FX Nytros bend real easy, even on a newer machine. I hit a ditch crossing hard one time which bottomed out the right front susp. on my 2011 Nytro XTX and that was all it took. The dreaded rippled bottom plate of the subframe. Granted when this happens, 99% of the time the sled is completely rideable. In fact with mine I rode it the remainder of that season and all of '11/'12 with that bent frame only having it replaced last fall.

I tweaked the front end of my Nytro far enough for the shock to get dinged by the a-arm and have no idea what I did. That being said after Yamaha refused to cover it I put a 4' bar between the a arms and bent it back and it's stayed for over 1000 miles and is still fine its definitely it's weak point.

:jump: I don't bash it all the time , there's no perfect sled that's for sure , I just speak the truth :jump: :jump:

This is one of 2 questions I had for this new sled. The other is bushing wear.

Looks like I'm going to have to save my pennies!! And sweet talk the wife. We have 4 4strokes now, if this sled proves reliable, I will trade one out!

I have went through several front suspensions on RX1 and Apex sleds on hits that didn't seem hard. your experience is music to my ears!!

I'm just having a little fun with ya...I know your excited about your new ride!! There is a lot of guys that will tell you they beat their Nytro and never had a problem...What I do know is you bought a great handling sled with a kick butt Yamaha engine so you should be very happy with it...You don't need to bash old reliable to justify your purchase!!

Glad to hear the sled will hold up to stuff like this and even more so that you didn't get hurt.

Oh I don't , you never hear me bashing my old 02 polaris xc sp 700 :jump:
In 2012 I was sitting on an Arctic Cat and said to my dad , man if it only had a Yamaha engine in it I would buy one in a min
