I have an 06 apex rtx, bought it new in 05 when they came out. I used to ride nothing but trails and this sled is damn near perfect for that, but now I moved to the UP of Michigan and I like to ride trails but I like to off trail at times also and when we actually have snow, unlike this year, the Apex is no good for 3-4 foot of powder. So, I have been studying and I want to extended the skid to A 144", I hope the mono can handle it, cobra track, m9 skis with snow trackers. I know I am gonna loose so of the handling on the trails but do you guys think this will make the Apex a better all around sled? I am gonna to use tip up extensions for the skid.

I'm doing the same thing with my sled. I have a 144 extension kit on order from Muffinworks with the tip up rails. I plan to put a Camoplast Cross Over track on it as well. The setup I have now is great for groomed trails and lake running but I have found that I run more on ungroomed and off trail so its getting stretched.

I think a few guys have extended to 144, check around the site, maybe do a search, Im sure you can find lots of good info from those who have done it. I run only sweet groomed trails so my 121 is all I need....

I made my 06 APEX RTX a 144" over summer. I used the cobra track but took it out and put a deep snow track. I relocated the skid in my sled to get it up on top of the deeper snow. But the funny thing is that it help the handling out alot more hook up and it help it turn don't know y it help that out but it did. I rode a 07 APEX RTX 144" that the guy did not relocate the skid he made the skid a 144" not a 136" relocated. It rode like a tank it put alot more sled over the ski. Hard to trun and it likes to dig in the snow not get up on top of it. Here is the post I did about a 144"
