Picked up the sled Friday night at the dealer along with a $650 bill. That included a whole bunch of maintenance, including carburetor cleaning, plus a newly padded seat, handlebar riser (adjustable), and cam covers (?) for the side panels.

Man the cost adds up fast.

I've spent $1000 on snowmobiling so far this season without one ride. I also bought new bibs, boots, gloves and a jacket. Now I have to pay the insurance bill.

It's easy to think this is a stupid sport to participate in...telling all this stuff to non-riders evokes some mental health questioning. I simply reply to them that they would never understand unless they took a ride.

I know what your talking about 1000.00 for M-10,500.00 new paint,misc updates 400.00, new sled for wife(03 RX-1)4300.00,updates 400.00, new in-line trailer 8000.00,new hement 320.00, new coat for wife 150.00,alum. trailer hitch, and new 05 duramax :? :? :?

I've spent about that and my sleds have not even gone in yet. $1000.00 cash on 2 new suits. 1 for me and 1 for the girlfriend. She needs a helmut, $ 350.00 and boots and gloves yet. Insurance for both will be $600.00. I have to put about $600.00 in upgrades to hers, 99 Srx 700 and i had my seat refoamed 03 Rx1. If you start adding up the nickles and dimes you wont enjoy it when it finally comes to riding time. It's expensive but so is everything else.

My bissness partener spends between $2000.00 and $3000.00 for a golf membership and this does not include cart or other courses.

It's all relative. Just my 2 cents ;)!

Hmmmmm? Very bad/good topic. I spend very little money elsewhere and thoroughly enjoy this hobby; regardless of it consisting of only four rides per season.

Picked up an '03 RX1 for $2400. Added a new ripsaw for $300 (after selling my old track), updates to include jackshaft stuff, front springs, miscellaneous for $200, Boss seat for $425, riser $20, upholstery on the handlebar pad to lengthen for the riser $20, Poo wheels $20, tank/map bag $40, skid plate $75, jets $10, and some other odds and ends for less than $50.

In the end, the RX1 with 2600 miles for under $3500 ain't too bad.........(actually, sold my SRX for $3000, so I have $500 into this season). Can't beat that, eh?

Lookin' forward to this season for sure.

I am just getting into sledding so here is the break down:
03 RX1 $4500 (all prices in CDN $)
Parts to get her up to par ~$1000 (I did the labour myself)
Helmet $320
boots $120
Gloves $30
Suit $700
Trail permit $180

Total = $6850 (not incl tax)

Done yet? Nope, got to outfit the wife:
Helmet $100
Boots $160
Gloves $30
Suit $400

Wife's total = $690 (tee hee)

Total = $7540
Good thing I didn't drop $14,000 on a new Apex eh? (~$16040 with other goods purchased)
