I just installed my full Hindle. It pops and back fires while riding at certain speeds. I do not have an intake system or a Power commander. I do love the system but it is loud as hell. My problem is the popping. Do I need this power commander? I see Ulmer sells them. Any place else sell them?

You need a PC5, can get a map from ulmer or hurricane. Also get the db reducer for it, will take the sharpness out it at cruise speed but yes its still loud. The popping is lean condition.

Unless Ulmer starter selling the Hindle system I wouldn't go to him. Get the PCV from Hurricane it will come with the proper map. You might as well do the air box lid as well, get full power out of the exhaust.

Who ever sold it to you should have asked if you have a fuel controller unless you bought it privately. You will still hear a small pop when you have the PCV but it is very small and only for a split second. To get the best out of it add a Autotune to the PCV and build your own map for your riding style and conditions .

If you have a lean spot you can also just hook it to a computer and adjust your map manually. I used an AFR gauge and trial and error to tune mine. It's the poor mans autotune.

Got the auto tune used and for the amount of changes it has done over the last 300 miles, it would take a life time to figure out where to make the changes it has done buy just changing numbers at random. Some tables were modified as much as 34 % .

Sir you misunderstand what I am saying. I am not talking about writing a map manually and changing numbers at random. I am talking about making fine adjustments to an existing Dyno tuned map. I started with Hurricane's Hindle/air box mod map however since I actually have K&Ns and not a modified air box I had lean spots. I used the AFR gauge to spot them and added fuel in the appropriate RPM/throttle % cell. She now runs smooth and never pops.

...but I made the comment not knowing you had autotune I just thought the provided map was lean like mine.

Rev, does it pop or stumble when hard on/off throttling?

Yes my map was lean for my area. It worked but I wanted it better. It was probably fine ,just didn't like the pop when I hammered the throttle. Now it is fine tuned. Might try it with the 5% cells set to zero and see how it performs.

You're talking about that little miss that all nytros seem to have when the gas is on eh? If we are thinking of the same thing it does still do it occasionally but it seems reduced from when I hand my Yosh exhaust. But when letting off the gas it never pops. Well at least it didn't until the collector hole then it popped and farted lots, it even backfired. Too bad my AFR probe quit on me before that happened I would have liked to have seen what changes occurred.

You bought autotune as well didn't you?

Yeah Autotune is the way to roll. I'm still thinking I might come across one. I have errored on the side of rich so I'm probably leaving some HP at the table but I know she's going to last. She's just running so smooth and rips on stock Nytros so I don't know if I should mess with it.

Yeah but mine has the nytro miss too. Mine has one spot around 6000, its just amplified with the intake when hard on/off the throttle. Yeah have the autotune too. Its seems to work ok but not sure about yhe cure all solution for tuning. I'm still trimming out fuel here and there so long process but seems to work. When my exhaust broke I was getting really weird readings and it killed my sensor too.

Ok I will have to go with hurricane then. I will see if $$ allows for the auto tune. Also repairing my backup sled as the 14 year old drove it into a tree.
So more $$$ going that way. His Poo trail lost compression so more $$$ going there also.
I bought the Hindle from somebody who chnaged their mind on putting it on. Why?? Dunno. So that is why I do not have the PCV. Was hopeing I would be ok for a couple of more rides. It will jsut have to be a summer project. Just a bad year for the pocket book. Uncle Sam is taking more from me this year also.
