I have been searching for the best quickest mount and I may have found somethings that will work. This mount will require removing the handle bar pad but this should have a nice fit and Finnish. Will be using on my 2007 attak gt
I have seen all the mounts from RAM but this may be a more simplistic mount
Let me know what you think I should have it mounted next weekend assuming it works
Going to be using my Garmin Nuvi 1450 with trail maps form RED PINE Have heard great things

I admit to being a big fan of Ram Mounts but for $18 hopefully you are happy with it. I THINK if you had gone with a Ram setup you could keep your handlebar pad on.
I would strongly suggest looking at VV Mapping ( http://www.vvmapping.com/). Awesome maps, updated 3X per year, great customer service and a groomer program to boot.

I'd be a bit leary about that gps mount. How well would it work in cold weather? Will the plastic snap/crack? Also, it doesn't look like the ball mount is all too secure...the ball locking mechanism doesn't look too sturdy either. The gps may bounce around on rough trails and you'll constantly be readjusting it.
I say spend a few bucks more and invest in a RAM mount...they are super strong.

What are the advantages over the red pine maps? Thanks for the advice you guys got me I thought about it and for the price of it I would rather be enjoying my day on the trail rather than messing with a gps.
On another not just ordered my Schmidt Bros clutch kit and sway bar pretty excited to get that on.
Here is the link for the ram mount.

I’m still thinking of the red pine maps unless I can be persuaded

MUCH better choice on the mount. But will your GPS be enclosed in something? Your 1450 isn't waterproof.
As to maps...call Jeramey at VV Mapping and let HIM tell you the differences.

It's always good to keep the moisture off with an Aquabox like that. But from my last three years experience, my Nuvi has been out in the open and has not had an issue yet. I run it from -20f to +35f on the sled and while it's snowing and this past week in Michigan while it was raining.
So buying the Nuvi clip with the ram ball on the back can save you $35 or more. You won't be disappointed with the aquabox though.
You can also drill two small holes in the riser and mount a RAM ball right on the riser for a very solid mount as well. I have used the u-bolt RAM ball like yours the past few years without issue. I just wanted to free up more of the handlebar for handguards
Good luck!

A lot depends on how you ride. I like to ride aggressive in rough. I did not want it on or above the bars nor did I want it offset. I went to the back side of the riser with a ram ball mount. I have since gone to a shorter stem setup to tuck in tighter to the bar pad.

That's exactly what mine looked like until this season. I bought a new larger jacket that allowed me to start wearing my Tekvest again. But, with the vest on, I cannot tip my head down that far to see the GPS. So I had to extend the RAM arm up so that the GPS was up on the pad. I would crush it if I hit the pad, but it's safer to not have to slide back on the seat to see the GPS.
Nice work!
