was out for a ride and along came a Thunder Cat A/C,
so like ya would we give'er, the lake had some slush not ideal in my lane anyway he was on the well used trail, he never bet me nor did I win we will call it a tie,
so with that went over for a chat, seen he had a $600 dollar digatron gauge mounted on bars, so I ask " any Mods", nope he said just like to have it to watch temp etc.. :ORC
So my Question is , Can a STOCK Attak have a chance against a stock ThunderCat?,
Also I have Limiter Strap let out all the way, will this cause me to loose some top end speed, seeing that I am letting the rails drop changing approach angle, or squaring up front end of track.
Listen I like top end that day I was gettin buck20 on dream meter, thats with a bit of slush and snow covered, should I be expecting more from my Sled, and I also did the 5/16 washer thing, any help here would be appreciated

Depends on the year of the t-cat and whats been done. The t-cat should out run the attak. It depends on who is tuning what. Setup is everything. Do you guys really believe a 5/16 washer is going to make your sled faster?

Just came off a TCat and had two more in our group. Can't say how the Attak would do, and now no one in our group has a TCat so I won't be able to find out, but a clutched 2000 or 2001 would only pull an '03 RX1 very slightly, so I don't see why an Attak couldn't run right next to one. But with a few simple mods the TCat can be much quicker.

Hey fella's didn't expect to acheive alot with the 5/16 washer, I am telling ya all how stock my sled is, it made sence to me so I thought I'd give it a try. To make HP/Speed gains it costs and alot of know that but if something makes sence what harm can it do.
Regardless, my question was, track set up for speed runs, any tips out there. Thanks

The only way that washer thing would work would be with the stock uncut helix provided the sled would get over a 1 to 1 ratio which most stock apex sleds can't. I believe guys are seeing it work because it cuts down on the compression preload of the secondary spring making the compression softer thru the whole shift range including the fullshiftout area allowing the sled to shiftout further in the right conditions. It also probably changes where the buttons rest on angles of a multi angle helix giving the helix a steeper finish angle. Both of these things would help top speed if the belt doesn't start slipping. You could try a softer compression spring with a similar wrap in the secondary and probably get similar results. Again it might slip when drag racing. My srx's would always go faster on the top end on the lake with that soft red yamaha secondary spring that they came with stock. The silver spring was quicker in a dragrace though.

My best friends 1000 T cat completely stock, well tuned has done 115 -118 in 1000' for years. No comparing my GT to that. It does have 25 more hp!

I thought they were talking about stock helix's that WERE CUT, combining with a 23 top gear.fourload said:The only way that washer thing would work would be with the stock uncut helix provided the sled would get over a 1 to 1 ratio which most stock apex sleds can't. Sorry for my typo above. Just hard to believe that anyone could think putting a washer behind the helix is going to increase the top speed of their machine. Put a turbo on an attak which has a 23/38 gear in it and it will run 150 on the dream meter with stock clutches and no washer behind the helix. The only reason to allow the driven more travel is to machine the drive clutch for more travel.
