The dealer called today. Said my sled is finally done. Took it to them on monday feb 27. Not bad. two months to rebuild my engine.

That royally sucks! I hope you got some compensation in addition to the new motor! Not the way to end a season ...
SXR-- Did they pay for the whole thing. Did you get some extra warranty.
On deals like this we should have a way to send a petition via the web site to your dealer and Yamaha telling them to shape up or ship out.

Going to get my sled on saturday. They told me that they were going to give me a years warranty & Yamaha should give me another year. Thinking off duying more warranty. Want to get a total of four year warranty. will keep you posted.
Got the sled back today. New motor . THe dealer gave me 1 year extended warannty. I purchased a additional 3years . At a great reduced price. So good for four years.
New Motor? That is nice and that is what should have happened. Sure you will have 4 trouble free years with that motor. 
Hope this doesn't make you feel bad but I have seen no other motor failures other then what happened to you and others with the Filter gasket hanging on the motor.

I believe what caused this motor to go. Is the oil the poured out when the gasket didn't seal. I went 3.5 miles across a lake. When i got to the other side it wouldn't go. oil all over the clutches & belt. no warning light. This is when the motor started to go.
