Now that I have own my nytro xtx for a couple of years it's time to put it on a diet. I am thinking about installing a timbersled mountain tamer set up on my stock rails. I am worried how they will work on trail and if they will hold up to the abuse of trail riding? Does anyone know how much weight that will save? I am also thinking about installing a front end kit. Any suggestions?

they do have a fit kit for the xtx if thats what your asking wouldnt know the weight savings on a fit kit. you can also put an arctic cat float suspension under there too, that saves a bunch of weight (+/- 20 lbs)

Yep your right according to their website they have a fit kit for the xtx, but I am worried how strong the kit is and can it hold up to trail use. I ride 60-70% on trail and the kit looks to be designed for mountain riders. I have thought about putting a AC skid under it but my sled is still under warranty. I rather install a bolt in kit instead of adding new mounts and maybe voiding my warranty.

there are guys that jump and cliff drop the hell out of the mountain sleds and they seem to hold up. biggest problem ive seen with mountain suspension is guys bending their rails into a gullwing shape.. so in that case you will be fine with it

I have that kit and it works amazing for trail and is tough as hell. I put that setup into my 2009 xtx this year and have put about 3500 kms on it this year.

Can you post up some pics if yours please? How is weight transfer and ski lift on acceleration compared to stock? Have you rode off trails with it also, and if so how is it getting on top of the pow?

I have quite a few in a build / mod thread I did but, will attach one or two here (don't want to high jack thread.....hope MNYTROXTX doesn't mind) you can adjust it, at max with my set up it will lift a little more than it did with star kit in it. works pretty good in deeper snow (3-4ft which is all we get where I ride on a good year) considering I run a 1 1/4" ripsaw which is not the greatest thing off trail. I ride with transfer at minimum transfer usually on trail, doesn't come out of the hole that good but, corners very nice. not a big deal..... just reach underneath and in seconds you just adjust 1 screw and good to go.

STUB111,
have been thinking of doing this upgrade for some years now, thank for your info. One more question please.
Did this raise your rear ride height or keep it the same ?

it keeps the same ride height but, that always dragging #*$&@ / saggy rear end thing is completely gone.
the kit is tough all chrome moly stuff and stronger than stock (I bent the rear bar through the stock transfer assembly twice on mine in the past) I put a 50km of bombed out hard pack trail beating on it yesterday....... no issues
season is almost over so I figured I would push and see if how tough it was, as I would have all summer to deal with any resulting damage....lol
ps.... I thing weight loss is somewhere in the 30lbs range depending how many wheels you run on it, rear axle configuration etc... I am not really that concerned about the weight, if I was I could probably drop 20-30lbs myself for free

Stubb111,
What front end do you have on your sled. How does the combo of the mountain tamer and the front end work.
