2017 Sidewinder RTX
Well been tossing around the idea of moving from the old SRX up to an Apex. Looking at a 2007 Apex RTX right now. Anything I should be looking out for on these sleds before purchasing? I have heard that the rear suspension is a bit harsh! The sled has about 2500 miles on it.

I have a '07 RTX. I personally extended to a 136", soften the rear and put more transfer in it.

I put donuts in mine around 3k miles, so dont be suprised when you need to put them in.

I also changed the stock skis for powder hounds to help it float. The front end never has a problem getting out of the snow thats for sure.

Now the main complaint I have is the steering. It darts, and I am constinately changing pressure of the fox floats to adjust for it.

Its getting tore down this summer for new bushings and a few more tricks and see if I can get it dialed in better. Now has 3500 miles and front bushings are shot. Just checked them after last ride and didnt realize it.

Power is unblievable.

i have an 06 rtx. I think the 07 has the ck rear skid not sure though. I have a mono. snowtrackers are the answer for a dartless, F1 type steering.. awesome..

Familyman, I put a set of dartless on mine and it made all the difference in the world. There are other similar items out there. I highly suggest you try one. You won't be dissappointed!

Read the sticky in the APEX section about RTX vs. REV X package. A ton of great information about the PRO-Active rear skid in there.

The RTX is a great sled. Like the others, I agree, you should stretch it out. Too much enging for a short track IMHO.

Exh. donuts and wye pipes, general skid condition, and front A-arm bushings are the things I would check.

You will love the Fox Floats.

Cobras from Qualipieces or Deuce from Studboy will get rid of the darting. Both work really well...but the Cobras are a single carbide.

Only takes a minute to check the pod for any codes that were thrown. Might want to do that.

Thanks for the info. What kind of $$$ would you be looking at to change the exhaust donuts. Also, how do you check the 'pod' for codes?

I have an 07 rtx i bought new 2 years ago... love the sled... 9200 miles on her now.

things i did...

rebuilt suspension 3 times (wheels, shocks revalved, slides, etx..)
exhaust donuts ($80 for parts, then my time)
front bushings this past fall, all new bushings in rear..
chain case-bearings and gears
track is still the ripjunk, but will need a change soon.

all in all.... love the sled... bought a 40th because i love them soooo much...

i'd buy it.... not sure what price you can get it for but i would assume 7-8500.. depending on condition.

major upgrade from the srx... and the decals are the best factory ones on the snow.

cheers,

Donuts are around $20-25 each and there's 4 of them. A bit of a pain to change cause the seat, gas tank has to come off. Here's a step-by-step from RockerDan...

To check the pod (and reset):

And here's a list of error codes you may want to print off...but don't be alarmed if there's a code. Stuff like TORS or a sensor they forgot to plug in can happen easily...

The Proactive seems to be a love/hate thing. I changed it out for another I know much better - that doesn't break parts.

Regarding the rest of the sled, you'll love it.

Well the exhaust donuts don't seem too expensive. Overall, from what I'm reading they seem to be a great sled. I love my old SRX but looking for something with better suspension, electric start and reverse. Also, something a bit better on fuel. My SRX is pretty good compared to similar from that year but compared to the newer Doo SDI's and even the F7's is not great. Hopefully I can make the deal.
