Looked through the stickies here and couldnt find much. Wondered how best to get my 010 venture RS to quit tipping onto its side. Worse in powder, but even on packed. Now I now its got some weight up high but should I really need to lean in a corner like my 1970 johnson rampage?. Judging by the lack of cornering with even a smidge of throttle I'm thinking front end needs more weight. If so how do I do without bunging things up?

I had the same problem with my 2007 RS Venture, along with lots of other problems. No more 4-strokes for me. Anyway, back to your problem. The front shock in your rear suspension is set up for someone weighing 1000pounds. Take the bottom locking nuts and loosen them. Back them off as far as you can go, without the nuts falling off the shock. Tighten them up and go for a ride. It will be like night and day.
This allows weight to transfer to the skis. Right now, all your weight is set up to be on the front of your track. Why Yamaha continues to set them up like this is unknown. Absolutely every Yamaha owner I have talked to has either taken my advice, or figured it out on their own.

Thanks dude. I'll give er a go. I'm up in renfrew. I guess you being in osgoode your in the same boat of waiting for some white huh. Than rain comming on thursday isnt going to help,but thanks for info. Now if I back that all the way wont that make me plow under if I am in some powder?

I run groomed trails. Not worried about powder. It will get weight off the front of the track and onto the skis, so the possibility of plowing could be there. I'd rather be able to turn without falling over though. Some trails are open around your area and Barrys Bay. At least that's what the OFSC web site says.
Ya your right. Beats heading into the trees cause cant steer. Its new to me after 23 yrs of no sledding so I can be content in my yard probably another two weeks. Then if theres no snow she's on the trailer. I would really rather head out from my yard though

I just loosened the bottom nut with a screwdriver and hammer. Back it off as far as you can. I then turned the entire shock, with the second nut, by hand. When the second nut reaches the first nut you lowered, tighten with the screwdriver and hammer.

If the rear shocks are similar my my rs nytro instead of using a spanner wrench lift the rear of sled up so track hangs freely. Clean te shock with wd40, take a flathead scredriver and hammer, gently tap the bottom ring nut in proper direction so it losens. Then you should be able to hand turn both of those spanner nuts. Then once you get the shock spring where you want tighten up the bottom nut like you lostened it. I recomend gloves when turning it but you may not need them. I cut my hand up. Another tymember told me how to do this and it literally took me 5 minutes. Make sure its not dirty or frozen so the ring nuts turn easily.

take some pre load off your shock springs. try to get the lower a arms level with the ground.

On my 09 I loosened the front track shock off alot from factory , to stop some diving in the corners adjust the transfer rods shorter or longer untill it works for you , my sled drove terrible from factory , i took me almost 3000 ks to get it were I now like it

yes it is different, i forgot to mention that its the shocks on the skis.
I backed that nut off about 3/4 of the threaded section today. We'll see what happens next time I'm out. Thanks all
That didnt hurt things any. I think I happened upon a sweet compromise. The 3/4 the way down has taken a LOT of the tippiness out yet it still doesnt do a face plant in deep powder. So I'll go with that a while.
