To: GAP and/or TUNERS -- ETA on KNOCK PROTECTION?

You cannot compare the 1100 which needed a knock light due to being much more prone to knock.

When we built eco and powertrail we wanted absolute reliability without a knock light.

There is no need for one... Coming straight from the tuner. Zero issues in many hundreds of customes flashed on powertrail since last year.

For the bigger maps the new max spool I think it will be good to have the protection in case of bad gas.

I guess I'm comparing the two motors because they are both expensive to repair/replace. Yes I could go with one of the lesser tunes for safety, but like many other boost addicts....more is better LOL
 

A safe tune is reassuring a little bit at least and a properly working knock light shouldn't be rushed and should be proven or what's the point...x
 
I have had the privilege of testing both the knock detection and jukebox systems for Hurricane and I am very impressed with the results. Both Dave and Ben are very passionate about what they are doing and want the best released for both camps - all I can say is I think this is a home run and all will be happy
It's very obvious this is the case. It doesn't get much better having the multiple choices from mild to wild available
 
550 miles on my stocker now....So time for oil change, chain adjust/lube change.

So it's the obvious time for me to throw on the muffler, and the 22 tooth gear. Which means the tune should go in too.

Lots of talk for MANY WEEKS of a working knock lite. I started another thread with several questions for tuners and/or GAP. None were answered.

Maybe I need to keep my posts more basic, so here goes.

WHEN WILL THE KNOCK PROTECTION BE READY AND INCLUDED IN FLASH?

Hey Dan I had mine flashed by Kevin .. Over the top performance .. He sales the TD flashes. I had him do the modded stock muffler tune with the power trail tune and weights on mine and it . Works amazing . Woke her right up lol .. Kevin asked me to tell you if you need anything done from TD he would meet you in Huntsville to help you out and save waiting time . I have his # if your interested . he's a very nice guy and know his stuff about these turbo's !! He's has a few record breaker runs on the radar gun to prove his knowledge :)

I got the Jukebox loaded tonight with version 240 of the firmware. Heading on a back pack trip over the weekend. Everytime you open the Ap it says “knock protection enabled”. With no test time I hope my clutching still works with the updated tunes!

Have the knock detection in mine with the Jukebox as well. Running the 270 race clutching on the 240 race and it pulls it. In fact, I’m going to need to go heavier on the weights when I get home.

Let me know what you think of the intake temps, I’ve been going to 240 and 270 and intake temps get up there very fast on mine. Just grabbing a handful on the trail and temps will go from 50 to 100 extremely fast on the live data. Was about 38 here yesterday too.

I have a hunch air isn’t getting thru the intercooler at high speed due to pressure behind intercooler. Kinda like trying to merge traffic onto the freeway getting air thru the cooler and out from behind it I think. Or, maybe to was just too warm in the high thirty’s.
 
Good to hear on the power, I will be in the UP and plan to run only 240 once my gas is gone. I have Torco along in the event I see knock. I know you are on a Yammie but if it’s OK I may call you about what you are seeing clutching wise.

If I remember right you have the Cat nose screen on your sled. Did you end up putting a frogskin/hydrophobic material on it?

Stock Cat nose is all. Nothing in front of it at all. It was warm up here yesterday 38-39.

I’m on Hurricanes test program sending data back on logs on Beta test.
 
We have been working hard testing the knock detection and protection system with many of our clients on the trails. We are ready to extend the betta knock system to any hurricane flash customers that want to participate in providing data to us to perfect the system.we are happy with the detection part of the knock system with little left to perfect . The protection part of the system is also working while we are making sure that it’s reliable so that you can count on it
Great to hear Dave....I have been busy working on my sled, and finally got in to read this now. Ironic though as I just got off phone with you,LOL......and As always had a great long talk with you, which was very insightful, and you always leave me feeling good with all your knowledge.

Thanks for helping me setup my flasher and go through all my questions step by step. ;)
