diy, easy. Upkeep=repolish once or twice a season.

Lots of discussion about this and I will try to find the links later but I think Mother's Billet Polish got a lot of good reviews. There are two teams on polishing- the guys who want a perfect mirror finish and spend hours wet sanding with fine sandpaper before using compounds, and the guys like me who skip the sanding and go straight to the buffing compounds to get an 8 out of 10 finish. All depends on how much time and patience you have, and what you want the results to look like.

I couldn't agree more with YammyRX1. I too skip right too the polishing phase. I think most would agree that polishing looks great. However, after polishing a number of components on 3 of my personal sleds the REAL downside is that they don't stay polished very long. Even after a couple months of just sitting, the shine IMO seems to fade. And the elements are even worse on them in the Winter.
Bottom Line: if you want ur sled to stay lookin polished, plan on doing everything minimum of once a year.

There is some great info in this link. I seen it in person and it does look sweet but I doubt I would ever get into like this personally.

Wet sanding first will make your life alot easier.
1500 grit or a little coarser as needed to start... 2500 to finish.
Then Mothers on a paper towel with light pressure.
Then Mothers on soft cloths after that until you are satisfied.
For a snowmobile tunnel hand polishing works fine.
After that as mentioned once or twice a season with light Mothers works great.

I skipped the wet sanding and used Mothers Billet Shine. It wasnt perfect but it was close enough for me. It still holds some shine even after a winter.

Does anyone have any experience with clear coating after polishing? I would like to hear if this keep the shine. This would be for the rails.

Here are some links to other polishing threads. I know I have seen sealing products mentioned too but haven't found it yet.
