to polish or not to polish

i agree that it is a real PITA to keep polished up. wait until you try to polish the running boards with the punched out holes facng up. it will rip your hands, rags, and buffing pads apart and you ustill won't be able to get it all polished up nice. every little spot you miss will show up even more so once you polish the rest of it. it does look great for a few days when it is done thou.

good luck

I have a polish tunnel I did it the hard way wet sand
buffing compound and flitz. polish brings it all back
this year I am going try 3m spray on film to protect it

I don't know how it would work on a sled tunnel but I do know that for pontoons on a pontoon boat, a product called shark hide keeps the pontoons looking brand new for several years. I believe is is some sort of sealer. The thing with aluminum is that it oxidizes almost instantly when its raw and it needs something to keep the oxygen away from it. the oxidization forms a layer that helps protect the rest of the aluminum. The shark hide does just that, creates a layer on the aluminum to keep the oxygen away from it. might be worth a try. I'm not that into a polished tunnel or I would give it a try but I would rather ride than polish.

ty for the info i will look into this product.
