Well, here we go. My immaculate 05 RX-1 ER, pampered, all updates, perfect maintenance, yada yada, was put on Craigslist yesterday. Why? 3 little girls that love to ride with me, so we are looking at 2-ups. But holy moly, I'd miss this thing. So now I'm wondering, perhaps I get a good 2 up. If miserable on solo rides, get a 1 or 2 year old Apex. Will I realize significant improvements with the Apex, or will I still miss the RX-1 at that point? I have a couple of offers around $5,000 for my RX-1, so if I do sell it, now seems like a good time.

5k? for you rx1 i would do that you could get an 06-07 apex for just a little bit more and my dad has an attack so ive driven both and if i had one i wouldnt even remember the warrior lol rides better, fuel injected, feels like a ton more power, way more comfortable etc........
You could always keep the RX and buy a two up seat jack

I did not know that there was a 2 up seat option. Any tips on where to look at those, or is this an April Fool's kind of tip

No not a joke. I know they are avalible from royal distributing up here but i am not sure as to where to find them south of the border. Check out royal distributing.com and look for seat jack for RX and you can get an idea, also they retail for around $500 canadian

I know that guys have purchases Snow Trackers from Royal Distributing and they have shipped them to the U.S. so they would probably ship a seat jack too.

I'm with him. I have a rx jack for my '03 Rx-1 M. I don't use it much but its there when needed. Brackets go under each exhaust and you just lay the seat over the DO NOT SIT area and screw it onto the bracket with the four attachment bolts (no wrenches necessary). I don't know where to get them as it was with the sled when I bought her off nlclassifieds but I'd go ask my dealer.RX PAT said:You could always keep the RX and buy a two up seat jack

Also have one.... you won't be dissappointed.... fits the rx nice and also has a backrest that is fairly high so your kids won't have to worry about going off the back if you hit an unexpected bump, throttle, etc.....
Got mine a Royal Distributing... they will ship in the US no problem.... easy to deal with..... good luck, AD

Thanks fellas. Is it pretty easy to mount the seat? Appreciate all of the feedback. 30 years on Yammies, and I had no idea that this seat existed! Once the brackets are on, is it fairly easy to put the seat on and remove it?

You only need to drill four holes to install the brackets. After that the seat can be installed or removed in less than 2 mins. VERY easy.

Once the brackets are installed, which go right under the exhaust outlets, the seat just lodges on top of the original seat and four bolts with handles on them screw into the sides of the seat into the brackets. No wrenches needed at all to take it on and off. The brackets keep all of the weight off the DO NOT SIT part so there's nothing to worry about.
Sadly I have a very nice one to sell. Bought it earlier this year, mounted it, loved it and then some jerk put an Apex seat on my sled and it won't work. My daughter also loves riding with me. $ 200 shipped.
