2009 FX Nytro RTX SE. Do I need to shim the from skis? They are stock and I don't see myself replacing them in the near future.

I have searched and see that some are reversing the rubbers. How would I know if this has already been done to my sled? ( new to me )

Thanks,
Dave

I shimmed mine (XTX with the Yamaha mountain ski) and noticed a nice reduction in darting on the trail.
I tried reversing the rubbers, but it seemed like it was putting a lot of stress on the rubber, so I made a couple of shims out of an old piece of track instead.
To check yours to see if it's been done already, just pull one ski off. If it's been shimmed there will be a shim of some type under the rubber on the back side, between the ski and rubber.

Shim them 3/8". Check out Bergstroms website it's good reading.

Also in the FAQ section there are some great setup tips.

Which was is the rubber suppose to go in? Steeper angle on the back?

Flip the rubbers. The high side of the rubber, should be in the back, when they are flipped. Stock high side in front. When I'm not riding I put a 2X4 under the skis, about 6 inches in front of the pivot point. This takes the pressure off the rubber so it doesn't deform and take a set in the squished position. Works great, zero darting.

I read somewhere on here that plastic toilet shims look they're designed for this and can be found at local hardware stores in the the plumbing section for very little $.

Shimmed mine with old track rubber.
But still wear out carbides at the front too fast.

I had used an old Hyfax to shim my old Viper. Should work with the Nytro as well.

Thanks all for the responses.

Dave

I put on Bergstrom triple points and he sends the shims and ski savers for free. Works Excellent - handles great now. It was scary before with the darting. I also have 4200 miles on the triple points and they are still going.

What kind of glue would you use that bonds well to rubber.

Rough it up a bit and use contact cement.
