I have 2017 STX-DX with 5k miles 192 gold diggers 1.6” cobra track. I drove the sled with stock skiis with updated carbides for about 3000 mi. I adjusted the center shock up and loosened ski shocked loosed as much as I dare to go to reduce heavy steering and that help alot, tolerable but not great. With the tuners I always had twitchy nervous skis through the bars it felt like I could feel every nook and cranny in the bars. It carved good but nervous and darty at times. After reading all the post on how bad the tuner were I put the doo 6.9 pilots on with NO shim yet. I now have 2k miles on pilots with suspension set same. The pilots are definitely easier to turn but I still have a lot of feedback through the bars and minor darting mostly when riding fresh groomed trails that have seen light traffic.

The handle bar feedback became really evident after switching with my buddies 2012 apex xtx and 2015 skidoo renegade 800.

Is this normal? All suggestion welcome.

Thanks.

Have you seen the mechanical powersteering kit I developed? The kit greatly reduces steering effort and also reduces trail feedback to the bars.

Did you try loosening the front shocks (spring) up, we're is your strap set, could loosen and then reset center shock, just some suggestions.

I haven't ridden this chassis with pilots on it but I always thought they were a bit darty in certain situations on all my old doos. I also always needed a good bit of ski pressure to make them turn the way I wanted, even with shaper bars. I'd like to try them on this chassis but I love my curves too much to bother spending any money to do it.

this is a nice benefit which should be pointed out in your main post!

I had to have experienced exactly what you have described. Tried Arcitic Cat and Pilot ski's. The Manual Power Steering kit made the bars easier to turn and eliminated all feedback to the bars. The kit just plain works and is very easy to install. Travis makes great stuff.

I'll second that! I wished I'd have done it earlier in the season that's for sure.
