I have a 03 rx1 with a M10 SUSPENSION.I know with the M10 you will lose 5 to 7 mph on top end.But will the sled still pull up to 10500.On good conditions i get about 10100 10200 and top out at 110 mph.just wondering if the m10 will hold it back that 200 or 300 rpms.causeing the 5 to 7 mph lose.and what is the avarage top speed of a stock rx1 2003.

the average speed of an rx1 in good running conditions is about 112-122 mph on radar. the m10 will take off about 5-8mph. i have seen this on other sleds as well, the skid is designed for the ride and not top speed. many on here will say your rpm is ok at 10200, but i have always pulled higher speeds at 10500. to regain lost rpm you will have to remove some tip weight, but i wouldent bother with the m10 installed, as you are not going to see much top end with it. if you are pulling 100 mph on radar, be happy and leave it alone.

Thanks Grader Yes i am getting 110 on the speedo. And i found out my jackshaft bearing was gone as well.So that could hold it back some.So i replaced the bearing and i will see.but 110 on the speed with a m10 i think its running good.

Mine stock ran about 130 on Speedo and would get about 114-116 on radar but now I installed a SC10 III and a ripsaw track I figure to lose about 3-5 MPH total I hope we will have to see. I have one of the original overdrive setups from Woodys and I thihnk they now use a multiple angle helix as well as a different spring. I just feel like unless conditions are perfect I cant pull up into the overdrive. Its like you can almost feel it shift into the overdrive whne you get in good conditions maybe to much helix angle at that point or spring to stiff explains why they changed it on newer kits

You won't go into "overdrive" unless you have enough power to run the final drive ratio. That means that if you put overdrive on an otherwise stock sled, it won't get there, and if it does, it will slip out of it right away because it'll pull your engine speed down and you'll lose power. If you want to use overdrive, you need to do at least one of two things; 1) modify engine for more power, 2) drop gearing so that the final "overdrive" ratio isn't too high for the power you have.

The benefit of (2) is that you get more bottom end.

Adding overdrive by itself will NEVER yield an improvement in performance, and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER will it improve efficiency.

LB with all of the toher mods I have I also went down 2 teeth (see Sig) considering my weight etc I didnt think I would get more top end just not lose as much as it feels like I did. I agree with you about the OD going in and out to me it just feels like a little less ramp angle would help it or a bit weaker spring on top its almost like I have it geared down now but to much angle is not allowing it to get into the OD part of the clutch so I am stuck with a lower top end oh yah before someone asks 10500 down to 10,200 pulling back to 10,500 LOL

I don't like how thats going 10500 down to 10200 and back up to 10500. Be better to start at 10200 and climb up to 10500. Try adding/moving weight to the tip and loosening the secondary spring. How exactly are your clutches set now? (ie, primary spring and weights, secondary spring, wrap angle, helix angle). Reading your previous post makes it sound like you're running a straight helix, that so?

DRG sorry about hijacking your post..... First did you get your fixed?????

LB I am not sure about the kit it was a kit done by a local shop sold to my friend and then when he traded his sled we took all the stuff from his. I talked to him last night and from what I can tell it has a straight cut helix and the wrond spring. The helix may even have not been cut on the shuolder that holds the spring which will also keep it from going into the overdrive. he said the new springs are less coils but similar strength allowing a smaller area when squished plus the machining of the shoulder allows it to shift fully. he has a helix I dont remember the exact numbers but I want to say 53/43 its out of his 05 before he went roller but we have to try and get a spring tonight. Hopefully by this weekend we have it all in and can do some testing

No Problem race24x.Looks like the avarage speed is 130mph on the speedo.Im only getting 110 on the speedo.with a 5 to 7 mph lose on the M10.So im about 115mph on the speedo.I found out my jackshaft bearing was shot so i fixed that,so when we get our snow back i will have to take it out for run to see how its pulling.

I think 130 is a little on the high end even on the speedo I was on perfect conditions to see that (bare ice lots of room) also I had the old finger track on then and stock carbides. I know it doesnt sound like much but every little bit helps on top end attack angle on track they say to pull your limiters up a notch if you can to reduce the angle of the track hitting the snow (if your in snow) also each one of these things big carbides Dually carbides bigger track (even the ripsaw loses a MPH or two) can take away top end so I kind of figure 130 - 3 MPH for ripsaw and picks 1 MPH for 8" exec carbides (they say 3-5 MPH for duallys) can bring me back to 126 on the dream o meter 10% of that for speedo correction 114 and I have seen that for real on radar so its pretty close. right now I am working on the clutch not being quite right so I am only seeing about 112 or so on a packed trail but I will let you know after this weekend hopefully. Snow is a killer of speed on these ones especially with stock suspensions the angle of attack on the track is pretty steep. I have a SkiDoo SC10III in mine as to if its better or worse for top end well the jury is still out on that one. I can tell you it rides a whole lot better. Your M10 holds you back alot too if I had to guess I would say 8-10 on the dream meter remember its off by 10% so if M10 says 5-8 on your dreammeter thats more like 8 - 10

Thanks race24x.Your help was great.Sounds like its running right where it should be for a stock RX1.Im not much of a lake runner,im more into ditch banging and trails.I hear alot of people getting crazy speeds out of stock RX1s,I think its more bull then anything lol.Thats why i had to check for myself.I was thinking there was something wrong, but thers not. Thanks again.

top speed

on my stock 03 i would see dream meter speeds of 140 + mph on long run down the lake on shorter run on radar i would see 132 on the speedo and 119.2 on the radar gun. thats only with jetting and clutching running at 10500 rpm thats were it seem to run the best and pull the best speeds . ;)!
