Top Speed run with 2018 LTX LE

Saturday I got 122+ on a good trail (road) not perfect conditions for top speed but it was easy getting there and still had some left.. lost first belt yesterday at 900 miles. Absolutely in love with this sled!!
Brian are you stock still, and what do you have for miles, and studs?

Agreed Dan, I'm no lake racer, it was more for the fun of it....and it was fun. However i think i'll step up to "1.63's 4 per up the middle. I made my pattern so it's easier to add.
2 doubles 2 singles now. Just go all doubles

Yeah its impossible to hook them up pretty much...lol

Mine being setup for trail Im aware of that fully....Im not a drag racer and have no need for that. But with 3per bar, 1.450s you can roll into it and it will start to hook around 35-50mph..lol Before that its tough. ;)

Too many things start breaking when you hook these up bigtime down low with this much power...after all this is my daily driver/trail sled....its already gonna be hard on drivetrain and belts as is....

Dan
Yes it is Dan,i am a trail rider as well, but once in a while I like to run a good fast lake, but lately we don't get them good and flat and fast,to many rain/snow storms and melt downs,to keep stuff in good shape, very long. When you had your sled at your camp and pond the day you ran your 270r tune at 125,your lake looked awesome, hope I can get on a lake like that condition had,for you.

As I was saying the speedo was only 1 mph high from gps, So pretty dam close! How many miles are on your sled?

Fastest speed from last season on my stock winder was 120 speedo/ 117 GPS. That was on a slight downhill grade ice base trail with 1/2 - 1" meal on top of it. Not sure about lenght but my guess is under 1/4 mile. Same spot I hit 125 speedo this year but conditions were not as fast as last years run. So I have some hope that it will run close to 126 GPS on perfect conditions.

I also thought that these would do 122 GPS on a snow packed run, as advertised by Yamaha through last years video! Not mine, no time! But ice is where it's at if you want that full top end speed.

Ya,me to,once I get the correct shift and top rpms,i just hope I can get a lake or pond with clean ice to do it. Hey when do you want to hook up,i would love to ride with ya for a day or so,let me know if you want to come up north?

Shall do Pete. Hope to hook up with you for a ride sometime this year if I stay local, work wise. Taking Monday and Tuesday off to ride, but not sure where, as of yet. Lot's of nice riding only an hour away from home but want to venture further to try different trails. Rockwood, Millinocket, Rangely or the best trails around, THE COUNTY.

Stock would be hard to get alot over 120gps unless you are ice running and very long distances....

The difference I found instantly with the TUNE is how FAST it accelerates now to get to top speed. Its not even close to stocker.

My sled now on 1" fluff will shoot to 125gps w/the 270r Hurricane map with only holding it WOT for about 1800ft or so. I roll into it and out of a total of 2400 to 2500 ft gets to 125gps FAST. And the thing that blows my mind is how easily its done, this was without tucking at all as I was just testing some live data and belt temps. 22 gear seems to have alot more room, but I sorta wished I had tried the tune with stock gears just to see how fast I would tap them out fully. I would imagine 130 would come fast if I held it WOT a tad longer, and tucked. I can see how guys with a 1" track can make huge speeds and need more gear.

Running with 850s or any other normal HP sleds, its such a blast to just play with them at 3/4 throttle as they are all tucked down trying to get some speed on best track, while I can be out in the powder and just leave them like they hit brakes.

This is the best part about owning the big power....You can just play with the others.

But for all of you that ride with other turbos, I would expect alot of belts going down. lol

Dan

Sounds like that 270 tune is screaming. Glad to hear that. Your addiction is also my addiction and I love hearing about quick ones. I am pondering more of course!! Lol.

Be safe and fast and enjoy the season!

Ya,they told me 14.9 but on my koso gauge its a steady 2psi past that number around 17 to 17.5 nospro told me his overboosts by 1.5 to 2 as well, all I wanted to see was anything past 15,so I knew I was at least getting full boost, and not having boost leak problems,at any rate it pulls some hard at whatever psi it is,it just has trouble top ending on snow past 110 gps.

You should try the factory gauge for boost. It's more accurate up to about 17psi or has been for me. Go into diagnostics and click on map sensor, it will read in mmhg and run the sled. The formula is what ever number it reads x .0193368 - 14.7= boost in psi. It was dead nuts for my evo stage 3 at 14psi and my hurricane flash now at 17psi. I have a posted note with quick numbers on it. 17psi = 1629mmhg; 16psi=1577mmhg; 15psi=1525 mmhg; 14psi=1485mmhg.

I tried this during a ride this past Monday. But to make your numbers work, didn't you have to also subtract your BARO readings which are also in mm/hg?

My boost came in at a higher number then what it should have been, so I did not get to accurate with the numbers. Map around 1505 - BARO of 722 = 783 x .0193368 = 15.14 PSI Boost.

I was looking for a 13.5 PSI tune I thought ?

Don't substract the Barometer, just 14.7
What tune are you running?
If you had 1505mmhg come up then your perfect for evo stage 4. That comes out to 14.4psi. Evo told me there stage 4 is 14.5psi.
It will vary with what muffler your running too. You might see more with a 3" outlet or little less with a 2.5" quiet muffler.

TD eco trail with modded stock muffler. Dealer flashed and had the muffler modded. Muffler has stock muffler inlet and 3" outlet.

Done with calculator. What am I doing wrong? 1505 x .0193368 = 29.101884 PSI.

OK thanks a bunch for that info. Shall try again next week once on the trails again!! Awesome way to check boost.

are these numbers still on gauge after run,or just while you are running?

It has to be on a WOT run to see your largest numbers.
Once my Pod was set to read on the MAP mode under DIAG, I saw something like 228 at idle. It changes with more throttle and stayed at 1505 - 1525 during WOT. I let off a bit and it was stable in the 1500 range.
