A couple weeks ago my brother wrecked his 2011 Apex XTX pretty badly. We were running 70+ mph in the snowdust when he hit a snowplow ridge. He was fine, but the sled did multiple rolls and endos resulting in:
Broken bulkhead
All a-arms bent
Tunnel bent
Rear suspension bent
Broken windshield, headlight, airbox, tail light & housing, handlebars & controls, etc.... You get the point. It was a yard sale.

Sled isn't insured, so nothing to do but to just suck it up and fix it. Thanks to a couple of awesome TY members, we've collected 95% of the parts needed over the last two weeks, and tonight we started the tear down.
Here is the new bulkhead and tunnel we'll be using. We are swapping the right side of the tunnel from the original sled to this one so the VIN/registration won't be affected.

So after about 4 hours tonight, here is where the sled sits. Got the right side of the tunnel pulled off, and ready for a small amount of straightening needed in the rear. Also got the new tunnel & bulkhead cleaned up and riveted together. At this point we are just waiting for some rivets, nut/bolts, bushings, gaskets, etc to show up at the dealer and we will get this thing back together. I expect to have it back on its feet by the end of the coming weekend and ready to finish out the season.

Here's tonight's progress. We're getting the new chassis moving in the right direction now. Started by getting it up on the stand and ready to finish riveting the bulkhead to the tunnel and right tunnel side in.
Welded up one tiny crack in the back of the tunnel side, then got it riveted together. This felt like it took FOREVER. Must have put in 80+ rivets, sorting through bags of oem rivets looking for the right length for each hole (there are ~4 different lengths used in the tunnel)....anyways, it was a slow start, but glad to have that part done.
After the riveting was done we got on a pretty decent roll. Front plastic is on and a-arms hung. Track/driveshaft/jackshaft in. Engine is in and aligned, and exhaust all buttoned up. Starting to resemble a snowmobile.
New chassis has more parts on it than the old now...
With a few good hours tomorrow we should have it pretty close to wrapped up.

Getting close now. Had to make one more round to the dealer for a couple small pieces, and found a bad jackshaft bearing that is holding me up from finishing the chaincase. But once that stuff comes in, shouldn't be more than an hour away from being ready for the trail. Fired it up today and everything sounds great.
