Any quick tips on setting up a tps sensor on 05 rx1?
Have the service manual....not really understanding the steps

What are you setting? you just need slack in the throttle cable at idle

What is happening that you think you need to adjust the TPS?

Original sensor quit, faulted out.. Replaced with new.. High and fast idle now is off, as well as its stepping down off high idle before up to temp
OK sorry its been years since I have dealt with that and that is why I gave up on RX's due to carb issues. The high fast idle is not always a TPS problem. The diagram is confusing but you do need a "test coupler" to plug into the end of the pigtail coupler to then hook the batteries in series and your voltage tester (multi meter) to it and rotate it until the desired voltage is read.
There are 1000's of threads on here with the same isuues.

As far as setting them the mounting holes are slotted we used to just rotate them with it running and the track off the ground till the idle dropped back

I set mine without the coupler. I just made a rolled paper tube for 3 AA batteries in series and attached wire leads to the + and - terminals with a bit of solder. I stripped the ends of the leads and was able to attach them to the TPS switch connector using a helper to hold them in place. Just do the calculation and rotate the switch on the carb housing to get the specified value. I replaced the soft Phillips screws with Allen headed bolts from CTC for next time. I now consider this a maintenance item and routinely hit the switch with a shot of dielectric grease.Original sensor quit, faulted out.. Replaced with new.. Thanks for the help.. Any chance you know offhand what the specific voltage should be for that sensor? I've read various different specs online.
Sorry. I don't remember a spec for an RX 1. I used the calculated value. Thanks for the help.. Any chance you know offhand what the specific voltage should be for that sensor? I've read various different specs online.

I'm sitting here reading my RX manual and I'm confused by this also. I'm not understanding the difference between voltage and specified voltage? Is the TPS adjusted in the throttle closed position?Any quick tips on setting up a tps sensor on 05 rx1?
