Hello,
I have a couple questions about tracks and drivers. First of all I plan on adding a turbo to my sled this summer among other things and a couple of the other things are new skid track and drivers. I have a Pro RMK skid I will be using and I plan on putting a 162 track on so I am wondering what track should I be running? I had planned on a camoplast challenger 162x15x2.25 track I can get this track for a decent price on ebay. But is this track a good choice? Or am I wasteing my money on it? if so what track should I be running? Also, should the track be fully clipped or is every other going to be good enough?
Next question I am going to run Avid drivers that seems to be everyones opion on this site so im going with it. But my question is how many what size tooth driver should I be running? 7T, 8T? I am just not sure.
Thanks for the help ahead of time everyone

Since you are talking about a Pro RMK skid and a 162" track, I assume you are going to spend all of the time off-trail...? Then my advice is to go for the Challenger Extreme track. The Challenger Extreme outperforms the old Challenger as well as the Maverick by miles and it seems to be one of the most durable tracks too. You might get a better deal on the old Challenger or the Maverick, but once you try a sled with the Challenger Extreme, you will hate yourself for not buying one of these...
If you are building a mega horsepower monster, Avid drivers is the obvious choice. Unless you are planning a front heat exchanger delete, you will not be able to use bigger drivers than the stock 7x3".

Ok thanks for the advice i dont plan on making huge HP just doing a 180 to 200 HP kit is the plan.
So the challenger extreme would be a 2.5 paddle correct?
And yes i do plan on mostly off trail in the mountains mostly Possibly a very small amount of ditch banging around town when we get snow here which is very seldom.
What exactly makes the extreme better than the old challenger?

I don't mean to be in descriptive, it just takes too much time to write it all out. The CE 2.5 will outperform the cat challenger 2.25 in every way. I'd even rather ride a 2.5 down the trail than a 2.25. Stiffer deeper lugs on the 2.5 make a huge difference.
That being said, the 2.25 is not a bad track, just not the best.
Drivers, 7 tooth Avids. Boosted or stock.

Lug height, lug shape as well as lug stiffness all contribute to a better forward drive.yzviper366 said:What exactly makes the extreme better than the old challenger?
Yes, the Challenger Extreme has got 2.5" lugs.
Thanks for the info on the tracks guys. I just dont k ow if i can fit a $1200 dollar track into my budget a
Along with the other things i want to do. Thats a lot of cash for a track in my opinion. Gonna have to think hard on it but thanks for answering my questions.
And rick ill be getting in touch with you as soon as the tax man comes over and gives me my money back. Either way by April for sure. Probably sooner. I get a little antsy when it comes to buying stuff for my sled. Haha

Plenty of 162x15x2.5's on Snowest. Should be able to pick up a nice one for $500-600.

So glad this topic came up. was just going to post about this.
I am changing out my stock Mav and don't want a deeper lug then 2.25 due to the amount of trail riding I do.
It seems like everyone here goes with the CE or PC. I was thinking of the 2.25 Cat Challenger track would be a better track then the Mav and a nice upgrade to the sled.
What do you think??????

So I've reconsidered my track choice and I gave one question.
Challenger extreme or power claw 2.6 paddle? Which is better? I have a feeling the answer is the CE but had to ask before I buy.

Good prices on tracks at tracks USA. Got a 162x15x2.5 challenger extreme for 700 dollars.

I run a CE174x16x2.5 with avids. The only track to run with boost.
I've had the original Maverick, useless, the old challenger was a huge improvement but niether compared to the extreme. It works in all conditions and its the only track that can actualy put the HP down to the snow and still stop you on a hill quickly.
Personnaly i run a 3" if swapping out again.

I would seriously consider the larger Powerclaw if it isn't super spendy. I have the 2.25 on mine and I think it works great. I had the challenger extreme on mine until I stabbed it and then I got the Power claw and I think the powerclaw sidehills better than the extreme. I know all the magazine guys seem to love the big powerclaw.
